I've done a great deal of research on this one.
Girls: Will mourn the relationship on day one
*Afterwards they will console themselves with their friends, usually emotionally validate themselves
*Go out with their girls, get hit on by guys to get their confidence back
*Start hooking up with guys, getting the physical
*They may stay single, but usually end up in another relationship

Now this is where my word "initially" came into play because depending on the girl this would've of been the month after the break up. So they will appear to be going crazy and "moved on", but what we forget it is the emotional baggage the girl takes into the next relationship. Now we see a vicious cycle. If the girl gets into healthy relationships she'll be fine, but if she has poor choices for dating then she's shit out of luck.

Guys: They face the pain more head on
*Most guys celebrate day one, they drink watch football, they have their freedom back
*They hang around guys, may talk to a few new girls, and it's hard! They have to regain options
*They miss the girl they broke up with, they not feel scarcity

Like the girl this is where things can either go south or north. The guy has two choices either mope around for awhile and think of his ex or get out in the field and try to push through the pain. Most guys mope for awhile, which they eventually get over their ex. It may take about 3 to 6 months to get over the emotional damage, but hey they didn't rush into another relationship. If the guys pushes hard on the dating scene, he can sleep with girls to improve his confidence by using sex and intimacy.

I feel as though girls move on faster at first, but the guys are more stable after a break up long term wise because the guy has a lot more time to himself to face his demons. The girls have a biological clock so they don't have time to mope around. Also, girls get bombarded a lot more than guys, but it's also harder for girls to find a quality mate. Guys believe it or not can get relationships relatively easy.

thanks man! she didnt reply up to now and ive been getting obsesssed with her for 1 year now. i followed your advice. i deleted her # and its time fot\r me to move on and start the new year fresh! Merry Christmas and thanks for the great insights friends!

Um . . . not so much about "in heat", more so on along the lines as a women have a certain number of eggs and if she wants to get pregnant and find a suitable mate . . . she must do so as quickly. A man will always be able to make sperm and will always have the opportunity to make babies, if the opportunity presents itself. Women aren't so lucky for the reason stated about having a limited number of kids.
