Something I have been noticing over the past couple years is that a lot of girls seem to have a thing for cowboys. A good amount of girls I come across on tinder have some sort of 'country' or 'cowboy' reference in their bio. Or worse, are pretending they themselves are cowgirls when really we all know a lot of them would go into an excited delirium if they got mud on them or had to go without their smartphones. I live in Canada. Maybe this is just younger women? Any thoughts on this?

Fusion,

Location, age, and demographic all play a role here. I happen to party/go out with tons of women who actually despise country music, but I also go to lots of electronic/rock/hip-hop music festivals, so the demographic there is obviously skewed in my favor (away from country music).

That being said, depending on the locations you look and/or frequent, I'm pretty sure you can find girls of all types in a pretty even spread.

Hey Fusion, where in Canada? It's very common for girls to be from small farming towns outside of cities, so some could actually be looking for a hunter with a truck in a sea of business suits.

Sure ain't Toronto or Vancouver...

Sounds like day game is in order. I doubt you can fool a farm girl, but perhaps at least highlight certain traits on Tinder. Though a cowboy would be nice, maybe she'll settle for someone with a plaid shirt or a few outdoors pictures. It could at least open the door (match).

I'll tell you one thing, if you are gonna go "cowboy" with your look you better have the skills to back it up. Nothing wrong with wearing Wranglers, boots and a Cinch shirt. But farm and country girls can sniff out a poser in no time if they are from a rural background. Kinda the difference between wearing a leather jacket, and dressing like you are in a biker gang.

wanna see the real thing next to a poser? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0YASpeKMU3w

Pretty easy to see who is trying too hard. (if you can't, it's Robert Duvall who is the real thing)

Here is another funny Huff Post article

And when people ask me if I'm a real cowboy....I just reply, "Nope, I'm a cow-MAN"

Yeah don't get bitch slapped by a real one in public for wearing a hat or anything, but maybe the girl with the iPhone mud-protector's just sick of young guys who won't get their sneakers wet. She might saw cowboy, then see a manly MMA fighter, construction worker, or even CEO, etc. and say 'close enough'. It could just be masculinity she's itching for.

Also, two girls I've been seeing in casual relationships both still think they've got a shot meeting someone for a real relationship off of Tinder. I also have the best stories by far (like early a.m. straight to doorstep/bedroom) from girls whose bios on online dating have said things like no players, etc. As always, there's big discrepancies between what people say they want, then actually let happen to them.

Finding some sort of connection can be pretty useful to get matches though, so displaying a general love for the outdoors could help, though maybe the novelty of being someone in from NYC etc. could too, you know?

p.s. these young girls may all be walking around within a few blocks' radius on campus...

Haha the cowboy thing would be way too incongruent with my style I think.

I guess I just found it odd that girls here liked them so much when most times its just a regular guy in a flannel....

Good answers, makes sense.
