Happy New Year to everyone, hope you guys had a good time during these holidays! :)

Well, to the point of this post. I wanna know how to deal with siblings that know embarrassing stuff about you.

You see, I have an older brother that came for a visit for the holidays, and he has a tendency to bring up embarrassing memories about us. Or some times makes a huge deal about stuff that happened recently, like laughing outrageously about juvenile discussions that he started.

I've mostly just tried to play it cool and not even respond whenever he brings something of that up, since he's the kind of person that makes something bigger the more you try to deny, defend or come back. Plus that's also keeping with Law of Least effort.

So I'm curious if any of you guys have experience with this kind of situation. Or similar stories we could share.

Here's to a great 2016!! =D

Self-deprecation is the best way to combat people making fun of you like that. Most of his enjoyment comes from making you feel uncomfortable. If you give no fucks about it, he won't enjoy it as much. It also shows you don't take yourself seriously, which is an attractive trait.

Think about the guy who gets teased and hates it vs the guys who gets teased and joins the clubs. How are the two of them perceived differently?

Yeah typically, just laughing along with them works fine.

However, once someone said "We're not laughing with you, we're laughing at you". What to do then?

(my roommates were ragging on me for my word choice once...so its just some light ribbing, but I wasn't sure how to react to that comment)
