Drake (btw fuck Drake) VS Joe Budden
Pop superstar VS admittedly washed up lyricist
Drake trolled the fuck out of him and ignored Budden's multiple diss track and many would agree he "won" the beef.
If these kids that are throwing you sly remarks are losers like you said, I'd think ignoring it might be a better card to play, more times than not.
A beef in the rap game is a far more complex display of dominance than not taking shit in an immediate social atmosphere, though.
If you look at Drake vs Meek Mill, Meek Mill talked a lot of shit but he also had a solid fan base where he was gaining traction.
And sometimes there are skilled players in social circle scenarios where they developed it in order to feed their insecure ego and gain traction with numbers.
And at this point, it took Drake, strategic thinking, timing, and how he makes fun of him to shut him down completely.
Had he responded another way, he may have transferred some of his status to Meek Mill.
Joe Budden/Washed Up Lyricists already kill themselves because it's just nobodies.
And the point I want to get across is that, sometimes in class as I said, one insecure guy gains strength by forming alliances with other insecure guys. Sometimes this is enough to start creating a situation where you do have to respond.
The parallel is 50 cent was a nobody when going after Ja Rule. But because he was so power hungry, he found ways to get the attention of Ja Rule and force him to respond. He named all the gang members he was involved with and made him look like a punk, which in turn, the gang members pressured Ja Rule to respond back.
In a classroom, when there's say 5 guys who are coming after you, they gain momentum the more you ignore it, as I've been in this situation multiple times. And when you do have to deal with it, there has to be strategic places and timing in order to deal with it once and for all.
Which I'm still working on, added with grace and subtlety, which would remind me of Jay Z in terms of rappers.
Since you referenced rap, watch this A$AP Rocky interview at 2:50 - 3:30.
Lol. I still get a kick out of that.
Notice though, that first he presents his frame, "What the fuck are you talking about?", tell's him to shut the fuck up, laughs, then concludes with a death stare before moving on. He basically combines a number of things that have been brought up here.
Also, the dude has very good control of his facial expressions which can communicate a wide range of info.
LMAOOO THATS ONE OF THE BEST REFERENCES IVE BEEN SHOWN HANDS DOWN.
P.S Thank you for the thoughtful response, it really helps me see it in different lights and coming up with solutions by examining different angles
