FR Deli approach, number close

I went to a deli and ordered some food. While waiting I saw another girl also waiting for her food.
Me: You like chicken or pasta?
Her: Chicken … um … what?
Me: Chicken or pasta?
(awkward moment)
Me: Just kidding, I found you cute. What’s your name?
Her (smile): (name)

Then I sat down opposite with her and talked. My food actually came out first, so I grabbed my food but still sitting on the table and talked.
She then told me that she was going to get her food, but then she did not leave the store, instead she went back to the chair.

Probably she wanted to hear me talking.

I just talked on and on, for 30 minutes, then I ran out of things to say. I could have either to ask her to change venue or phone number. However I wasn't free in the next couple hours so I opted for the number instead.

SO where from here X?

With 30 minutes of talking I'd have seeded the next date and lined it up face to face, and then gotten a number.

"We should continue this convo over dinner."
"Don't you want my number?"
"Not unless I'm going to see you again"

Every time I've asked for a number without lining up a date, nothing has come of it. I've been on the receiving end too where I exchanged numbers but never acted on it. I think we ask for the number but not the date to save ourselves the possibility of rejection then and there. But it is not an objection, It is screening for interest. You are never going to have more interest than right then in that face to face moment so use the momentum.

I hope you texted a date proposal ASAP X...

Thanks for the advice.

I didn't seed the date, still I just sent her an ice breaker text and when she respond I'll still try to ask her out.

Next time I meet a girl I'll do the seeding before number.

Update: She responded, however I’m not free for a date until Tuesday. I could have schedule now, but it could be too early, so I plan to wait until Monday to schedule.
