I regularly go to social events where it's easy to get in contact with girls. Girls want to meet guys and guys want to meet girls. Everyone knows this who is showing up there. Usually you sit at a table with some more guys depending on the situation and who showed up first. Sometimes when I am already in a conversation with one girl, suddenly one guy (or more) tries to get himself into the conversation, trying to "steal" the girl. You can literally feel they are just waiting for it. How can I deal with this situation and the guy(s)?
If you are not projecting a confident vibe and in a deep conversation with a woman, other guys may try to swoop in.
You have to play this by ear based on your targets vibe. Don't let an interloper interrupt your conversation, but you can also show your social savvy by addressing the guy. If you don't have the woman's full attention you might lose her at this point. So try to set the hook early enough in the conversation that she commits her attention to you. If she is facing you and locked in on eye contact, she isn't going to be approachable. If she is facing away from you and glancing around, other guys will see the opening. Be interesting enough that guys won't feel there is an opening.
