HSV-1 in its various forms wouldn't stop me and shouldn't stop you. A majority of American adults will get it in their lifetimes. If you are a prolific seducer, it is very likely you already have it (it is common to be asymptomatic). I'd just (try to ) refrain from kissing or penetration during an outbreak, depending where her outbreak is (which can be anywhere on the body, but tends to be buccal/oral, and can also be genital).

HSV-2 is less common and nastier than HSV-1. To my understanding it can also infect anywhere on the body but is most common in the genital region. If I knew a girl had it, I would probably want to inspect for sores, and even then make sure to use a condom and Divine #9.

IMPORTANT: Oral herpes, whether it is HSV-1 or HSV-2, can be transmitted to the genitals from oral contact. If she or yourself has a cold sore, avoid using your mouth for anything. Also, be sure to get some aciclovir to suppress the symptoms.

there are multiple types of herpes, most people have herpes and hpv..... I would be careful with the one with outbreaks(maybe condom during outbreaks)..... I dated for a year a girl with herpes but she did not have the outbreak type..

Yeah sometimes I wonder... I have another friend who said she didn't know for a very long time, and then it was a really horrifying outbreak later in a time of stress and weak immune response.

If you're shagging a lot there's a fair chance you'll get it sooner or later. Chances are you won't even know if you have it. Most folks with genital herpes are asymptomatic. A lot of other folks get one single outbreak then never have another one for the rest of their lives. It's only some folks who get the regular recurrences.

But yeah, the thing is, condoms only offer something like 70% protection against skin-transmitted STDs.

If you've never had a herpes outbreak, and you know most people are asymptomatic carriers, you can get kind of cavalier and start thinking, "I'm probably immune to herpes outbreaks!"

Nevertheless, since you don't know for sure how it'll be for you until you get it, I tend to view it as one of those "better not to have it than to have it if you have a choice in the matter" situations. I've got buddies who carry their herpes medicine in their suitcases as they travel around in case they get a flare up. Personally, I always wonder how so many people in the community always claim to have so many lays and yet never talk about STIs. I’ve gotten clymadia and gohorrnea (no idea how to spell that lol) a few times and that was from being careful and generally not fucking obviously trashy women.
