FR First Cold Approach

Been following this site for awhile, but never had the balls to approach.

Anyways I was in class today and see a cute purple haired girl (felt like I was looking at an anime character), but she was sitting a few seats away from me, so I wasn't able to talk to her in class, also no one else was talking in class so I thought I would get in trouble for being disruptive.

I tell my brain, no more excuses, you are going to cold approach this girl today, so once the professor says class is over I leave and walk slowly waiting for her to catch up. Dozens of people pass me, and then she finally appears beside me texting on her phone. Let's call her purple.

Me - "Nice hair."

Purple - "Thank you!"

Me - "I've never seen someone with purple hair in real life before."

Purple - "Well I'm in engineering so there is a lot of people with different colored hair in there."

Me - "What is your natural hair colour?"

Purple - "Brown"

Me - "Nice meeting you, what's your name?"

Purple - "Nice meeting you to, my names Purple"

Then we shake hands

Me - "I'll see you around some time in class"

Purple - "Ya totally!"

Then I left because I have some school work to do in the library, next time I have class with her will be on Friday and I plan on asking her out.

Did I handle my first cold approach well or did I make some serious newbie mistakes guys?

PS: I don't have a phone or else I would have asked her for her number, planning on buying one at the end of this week.

PSS: My hearts still racing from the approach, I also feel kind of liberated, wish I started doing cold approaches sooner and I plan to do many more from now on, never will my female life ever be restricted like how it was before I discovered GirlsChase!

Good job man...kudos to you for getting out and doing it. It ain't easy is it? But I think all downhill from here.

One way you could have improved your approach would be to put more emphasis and use interesting words...say slowly "I couldn't help noticing that your hair looks TOTALLY AMAZING" and give a slow smile without showing your teeth. Or something of that nature...give it a try on the next one

Obviously, the fact that you did an approach at all trumps any technical considerations.

When I was starting out, I would've done what you did because I wasn't confident in my abilities. Now, however, I would've just talked to her in class. The balls you show doing such a thing would've gotten you some pre-selection among other girls in the class and respect (perhaps hatred/envy) among your male classmates. So yeah, that's something to keep in mind for next time, whenever you feel you're ready.

I see the same room for improvement in your dialogue that Ross recently pointed out in mine. "Nice hair" subtly gives her your personal approval, but I think it's a little generic and impersonal while something like "Hey, I like your hair. I feel like I'm looking at an anime character haha. It looks good on you," may do the trick a little better. With girls who wear something as radical as purple hair, I think giving her your explicit personal approval will increase her attraction because she might feel a little alienated by her hair color. Purple is actually my favorite color, so I would've also followed up with "purple is actually one of my favorite colors...I think we'll get along pretty well" - one other advice Ross gave me .

Now that you two are acquainted, it'll be easier to open her up next time. Furthermore, you now have two topics you can deep dive her on: her hair (why she chose purple, if purple is her favorite color, etc) and engineering (what made her want to study engineering, if that's what she always wanted to do, her dreams, etc).

I think you handled it well. No mistakes. Just keep in mind that since it's a classmate situation, you don't want to go direct unless she shows strong signs of attraction. Neither of you want to end up in an awkward position for the rest of the semester/quarter. On a side note, screwing up isn't all that bad unless your class has like 30 students. I made shit awkward once, but it was a class of 150 so it was easy for the girl to avoid me. So don't be SO afraid of messing up that you hold yourself back. Show that you're interested in her by deep diving her and stuff, and make sure to have a sexual vibe so you don't get friendzoned.

Congratulations though. By approaching, you've already become one of the most confident men in the world. I hope it goes well.

Thank you guys, I appreciate the advice you both gave me and I will keep it in mind for next time, I just got back from class with her so I'll update you guys.


Anyways I saw her sitting, so I tapped her right shoulder while quickly moving to her left shoulder to confuse her for a second, then smiled and sat beside her. Since I just saw your guys replies now, I didn't think to deep dive her on her hair (will do nexttime I promise), but luckily I did think of talking about her major and she explains why she is in it, and what she wants to do with that degree and her future dream job.

I then borrowed a pen from her because I forgot my pencil case at home, and then I asked her to put her number in my phone. We didn't talk really once the professor started his lecture.

So after class I lost her in the crowd, I decide to shoot her a text.

Me - Hey Purple, it's me Rhaegar from class

Her - Hey


Now maybe I am just over thinking, but her reply didn't seem to enthusiastic, I know GC teaches us to just always assume attraction but I couldn't help having that thought. -.-

Anyways guys, I didn't reply to her text yet, should I ask her out? Or is that too risky as I will then be forced to see her for the rest of the semester?

Should I just not reply and keep deep diving her in class next Wednesday?

I'm a pretty big advocate on smooth transitions and being grounded in things I say, so the way I would've asked for her number would be to: either suggest that we hang out or study together, then ask for the number so we can set something up.

Don't ask her out on a "date", unless she seems super into you. It's too much of a commitment for her, so she'll likely reject. I'd prefer to not respond to the text and talk to her some more in person to build a stronger connection--to reduce the chance of rejection/flaking, then take her out with something like "you're quite interesting...we should hang out some time outside of class...grab a cup of frozen yogurt or something".
