Hey Players, I'm 19 from a small city (85-90000 people) and will move to Montreal by myself in 6-7 months for university. I made a plan, which consist of saving the most money possible so I can still go out and have a social life when I have some free time. I have great fundamentals and style and have 6 lays under my belt, so game is not what concerns me, logistics are what I'm a bit more worried about.

I will live at the residence of the university for 375$ a month, internet and fixed telephone included. I'll wash every third day in order to save soap and get the cheap ones, along with a cheap deodorant, cheap toothpaste and cheap toilet paper. As for texting, I'll use textplus on my ipod touch, so I can still meet up with girls and friends for free. For transport, I'll use a bike when there's no snow and extreme colds (in december, january and february, i'll take the bus and metro for 50$ a month.) Regarding food, i'll probably go to community kitchens to save money and gain experience about teamwork. However, if you know a good website with very cheap and relatively healthy recipes, feel free to share it, I don't even mind if the recipes taste a bit blend. So yeah, I don't know how much i'll spend for food exactly, I'll try to cook a lot lol. Finally, there's the cost of university, but I have financial help and will buy used textbooks so that part will be okay.

I've only had 2 jobs with minimum wage (10,75$) and it will probably be the same when I'll first arrive there, so I'm wondering how much hours I should put in at work in order to get by with this plan while still being able to get good grades and have the time and extra money to go out. Have some of you been in a similar situation? How did you manage it on the work and social life/game aspects, moneywise and timewise? Anyway, feel free to share your story and any tips, suggestions and/or possible improvements concerning my plan.

Best regards :)

Something you might want to consider as far as jobs are concerned is finding a niche or something easy you can make money with and do that instead.

For example I just moved to go to university as well and I used to clean the exterior of houses for people with my dad back at home.

So now I'm going around knocking on doors and offering the same service. It's basically washing the grime/mildew that inevitably grows on eaves, gutters, vinyl siding in Florida.

When I get jobs I can make $$20-30 per hour (3 times as much as I'd make with a minimum wage job), I work my own schedule, and it's fairly easy. Hardest part is door to door sales/promotion of my service which I obviously don't get paid for. However I know once I get a few jobs I can network through those connections to get people to request me to their friends and I won't have to go door to door as much if not at all.

If theres something your good at or could learn quickly that has value to people it might be good to look into it and do that instead and make more $$ in the long run.

Shiiit I don't have a particular niche that pays, but I'm wondering if I should get a roommate, as the rent would be 611$ so 305$ instead of 350$. Is there a way to find one relatively fast if you don't know anyone that's moving?
