Hey Guys, I have been practicing and refining my voice fundamentals. I am breathing deep into my diaphraghm and into "my balls" and I am speaking from chest and its projecting. My voice sounds much richer deeper and resonant and its a good change. I was wondering if there is anything else I can do to make it even sexier? Also more importantly, speaking from my chest and In this way is making my throat hurt and its becoming sore . Why is this happening!!!? Also how I do prevent the soreness and pain and keep my voice healthy?!

Try something out for me. It'll only take about 5 minutes.

Sing these words out loud for about a minute each

Goog- Goog- Goog- Goog- Goog- Goog- Goog- Goog- Goog- Gooooooog. Repeat this sequence for one minute, it's about 10 times

then

the same again but singing Gug this time. E.g. Gug- Gug- Gug- Guuuuuuug

then this time singing Mum

then singing No- E.g. No- No - No - Noooooo

then singing Nay this time.

Look it may be weird but it's a terrific voice exercise that I got from Roger Love and it works really well. Try that out for about 5 minutes, preferably 10 but I want you to just try it out first and see how it is.

Let me know how it goes and what you think

haha its pretty useful and my voice feels clearer, but I still have a lot of tension, tightness and slight pain in my throat. I dont want to stop using my chest to speak as my voice sounds so much more masculine, deeper, and resonant, but I am not sure how to do speak like this relaxed or to stop this issues with my new voice?

Keep doing the exercises daily and your voice will start to become more resonant automatically, you won't have to force it anymore,
As for everything else I wish I could help you but I'd have no idea what I'm talking about.

so basically you are saying i will get used to the resonant voice as long as i keep it up and these problems should go away and feel more natural? did you have problems like this when you first started speaking and projecting from your chest?

Hey guys, so I think i may have also been speaking from my low throat which is causing the irritation, so now I am confused as to what it feels like to talk to your chest, like i understand the chest is vibrating but do you imagine the sound is coming out of it or out of your "mask"( area of your lips and nostrils). I am not sure what the voice is supposed to sound like anymore??

It shouldn't be hurting you to talk in a deep voice, unless you have a different vocal setup than most of us.

My advice would be to record yourself talking and play it back if you are unsure if you are sounding the way you want (although be warned that NO one sounds like they think they do). You could even post actual clips here for feedback if you wanted

Chase has done several podcasts and audio products so you can hear what he sounds like if you want to use that as a template. Otherwise find someone whose voice you really admire and try to figure out how to mimic some of their mannerisms

For me, Neil degrasse Tyson is one the most compelling speakers I know, so I listen to him occasionally when I need inspiration.
