Hey guys
I want to start doing freelance work, specifically stuff like proofreading, copywriting, translating and transcripting in my native language, danish, and english. However, i have no bachelor's degree, master's degree or what have you except my own word for that i am extremely skilled in both danish and english and have a natural talent for communication and language (which is why i want to play around with this stuff).

I know some of you guys live the online, digital nomad lifestyle, so i would love some tips and help from you!

Cheers

I got two different gigs working for people I really wanted to work for using the following:

1. I looked over their business in detail so I could figure out some way I could provide value
2. I then created that value (for example: made a logo, as well as drafted a detailed plan that I thought would benefit the business if implemented).
3. I then showed the owner the work I had done, and told them I would love to continue doing things like this for them
4. Continued to get more work thrown my way.

Basically I front loaded the value, and showed them real work I would do for them. They didn't even mention needing any help or a job opening before I did it. I just wanted to work for them.

A lot of companies have very strict SOPs and on the danish market the average pay per word is around 0,5kr (which is very low). What I'm trying to tell you is that you'll have to write A LOT of text before you can live off it - and the quality of the text has to be very good too. If you want a decent salary you'll have to write around 60.000 words per month - and that destroy the flexibility I think you are seeking. If the digital nomad career is what you want, you are better off with tasks that pay better and require less time. Hence why a lot of people do marketing - SEO, paid search, paid social or even marketing automation.

Yeaaaaaaap. Take DML advice.

Companies are often lazy to make content. Although this is actually a deeper problem, not a laziness problem.

If i start all over again, i will start learn and do affiliate marketing/third party per se as well for the simple reason that if i ever cancelled, that money will likely save me.

I am learning affiliate marketing more.

long game, you have to do something like Alex Becker Hyros. Which is solving a bigger problem.

I was curious about how to be a freelancer too. Working for other people doing something you'd rather not do is miserable. Plus all the government mandates are forcing you to get vaccinated/boosted to maintain your job.

@DML man with 0.5 dkk per word you only have to write 5 words a minute to make 150 dkk an hour... that isnt very low in my eyes.

how to get started in this? do you need an education?

You are forgetting that you have to pay around 42% of that in taxes. Your salary is also without a pension plan, you won't get paid when you are sick, you still have to do sales work to get customers etc. There's a lot more in it than you would think.

Nope, you don't. Research a little about each field, and pick which area you want to focus on. Since you are danish I'll give you some danish links as well to some of the content.

SEO:
- Start here for basic understanding https://backlinko.com/hub/seo
- If you want to go that route, buy this https://www.seo-lex.dk/

Google Ads
- I would probably start on youtube here for basic understanding
- If you want to go that route, buy this https://www.amazon.com/Google-Ads-AdWords-Workbook-Advertising/dp/B0876GG6TP/

FB/IG Ads:
- Start here https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCFF55suuW0LjzXEnzDTNCnA and here https://marketingbrief.dk/kategori/facebook-annoncering/

No problem. The most important part to really push your learning curve in these fields is by getting practical experience. Set up some sites and try to get them to rank for specific keywords. Run some google ads and facebook campaigns etc.

wait so i need some website skills?
no matter what skill in digital marketing you'll need to do, you'll need basic website skills. Setting up conversion API for facebook, a pixel for google ads and the basics in wordpress for seo.

The roadmap look more or less like this:

provide value (solve a big problem) > make a great offer > advertise that offer (not the product, you can make a great offer without even having a product yet)

Copywriting pays like shit unless you go after your own clients.

Do you guys think there's any market for knowing how to use Microsoft excel to build and make spreadsheets? I've been taking a course on it and was wondering if there's any market for that kind of thing or if that's more just for personal usage?

Like say businesses that may be looking for someone who can make spreadsheets for them using their data and track patterns.

Don't. HAHA. It will be a nightmare.

This video is great and very much in line with what I'm trying to do.

I'll expand on my first post:
provide value (solve a big problem)
- create several products;
- divide them in tiers that solve a small part of the big problem, charge accordingly;
- make great offers for those products;
- advertise those offers (social media, payed ads, forums, etc);
- create a premium product (consulting, group session, real life meet, etc) for people who are really interested to solve that problem for good and are willing to pay to have some kind of direct access to you;
- the premium product is the one you are really trying to sell at the end of the day, because that's where you make the big bucks - this is actually the boutique he talks about in the video;

Eg:
tier 01 - $99
tier 02 - $49 (entry level)
tier 03 - free (AKA lead magnet)
premium - from $2,000-$10,000 and beyond

Lead magnets are just that: a way to get leads.
Basically one premium sell is much easier than the tier 01 and 02 equivalents, simply because you have to sell A LOT MORE to make the same amount of money per month.

one premium $2000 sell = twenty one tier 01 sells and forty one tier 02 sells

Yes, there sure is....but you really have to niche yourself accordingly!
Plus you have to really learn a lot of programming (macros, VBA and - very important!!! - power BI).

I would stick to B2B though (nobody pays to learn excel, they just want you to fix their issue, whatever that is).
