Hey guys,
So I have a school dance coming up, one where all the girls are asking the guys (Turnabout). I've been texting a bit with my date, and I told her that I didn't need a group shirt because I'm broke. The thing's gonna cost $20-30 bucks, and it's really just a long sleeve shirt with some school logo/design and I think her first or last name. I can buy a lot with $30, and I'm not gonna spend it on something I won't wear at all. I'm not broke at all, but I just listed a bunch of stuff I'm spending on so I don't have to pay and get a shirt. Thing is, she then offers to pay for me. Now I don't really want it at all, but I figured she offered and must really be digging me, so I told her it would be great if she did, but if she doesn't want to it would be okay too. She basically agreed to pay for me after this.
So should I have her pay for me? She's also buying the tickets, but all the girls pay for the tickets and everything else is paid by everyone. I mean I don't want to tell her straight up that I don't want a shirt as I don't want to hurt her feelings (nice guy Pato stepping in), but I don't want to pay for one at all. So is met having her pay for something I don't really want (new and improved slightly asshole-ish Pato kicking nice guy Pato in the groin) a bad idea? I figured the investment I'm getting from her would pay off really nicely, and that as long as I keep things sexual and moving forward, I should be fine. I thought I read somewhere that if a girl offers to pay for something, that you should accept instead of declining and paying for it yourself. But maybe that was just for her half of dinner or some shit? Any ideas on how to handle this?
