I remember a post on here a while back with some good recommendations for characters to model after and films that will give a good baseline for fundamentals.
Searching has proved in vain as "movies" is blocked by the search function.

Any good suggestions, or a link to the thread?

Much appreciated.

Cheers

Hi guys,

Thanks, I'm currently working through Californication (great excuse to watch it haha).
I get the feeling my confidence is the biggest issue. Fake it till you make it?

Enjoyable watch! I'm on my 3rd run with it when I find the down time.

My fraternity buddy's and I used to joke after binge watching the show, that we'd go out to bars and "I'm not sure how that came out of my mouth when I was talking to her, but holy fuck did that sound good!". We were more or less unconsciously channeling Hank, we decided haha.

Don't expect to walk out the gates and pull like Hank Moody, the famous and sexy writer. He serves as a great example of using sexual frames, sprezzatura, outcome independence (mostly), push & pull, and overall vibe (there's plenty others too).

Keeping an eye out for these things, and learning the character he'll help show you what his type of sexy looks like. From there you can choose to emulate him if you're familiar enough with the character. Combine that with GC articles and you've got yourself a seduction protein shake. Combine that with ACTION (anyone could sit around and watch Hank slay for hours on end) and boom! You get results, both good and bad (when you lift you're sore as fuck but how good did accomplishing that max out feel?)

As you push trials, your confidence will grow, and you will SEE the effect it has on women. I wouldn't see it as "faking" it until you've made it, but rather trying out new things enough (both in range, and degree of trials) until you know what works best for you.

It's the women that approach him... which is a fantasy. You'll learn nothing about how to approach or seduce for this guy.

You're only saying that because others say it. He's only a good role model for smoking and drinking. He reeks of negativity and cynicism. He doesn't have the proactivity to get women in reality.

I've been watching the show, and the dude barely even opens his mouth. Outside of his work environment, he talks even less. The writers may have women (15 years younger), approach him, but this'd only give guys a false sense of how it really works.

You could learn a thing or two from the other men in 'Mad Men'!

Yeah on the list he's definitely the one I'll find easier to emulate, apart from the women approaching him of course, since he mostly games with words.
Fundamentals it is!

Niceguy,

Haha, maybe you won't learn how to cold approach a girl but the question was about fundamentals and sexy attributes, which he conveys very well. Also, the amount of one liners that comes out of this dudes mouth? The sexualizing of conversations? The dude is sex lol. Just because he has women approaching him (yes, unlikely, and extremely unlikely for most people) doesn't make him not a worthy candidate of who to study in seduction.

You're only saying that because others say it. He's only a good role model for smoking and drinking. He reeks of negativity and cynicism. He doesn't have the proactivity to get women in reality.
Don is a dark, mysterious, brooding, and powerful man. This can be very attractive to women.

I've been watching the show, and the dude barely even opens his mouth. Outside of his work environment, he talks even less. The writers may have women (15 years younger), approach him, but this'd only give guys a false sense of how it really works.
You don't need to be bursting with energy, or even need to talk very much to get pussy. It's a different type of style. At the bar, he sits and possibly turns to some woman who's sat down next to him before turning them to a putty in a matter of minutes. It's 90% of how he says what he says AKA fundamentals.

If I had to pick one thing you could learn from him, I'd say watch how he leads conversation with women, that and frame control.
You could learn a thing or two from the other men in 'Mad Men'!
Certainly! I thought about including Roger Sterling in this list as I actually identify with his style more (goofy, can be an asshole), but decided not to. Perhaps I should have to show the contrast between styles, both of which work.

Thanks Hue,

I think you might relate to Kevin Costner in 'The Bodyguard', or maybe Alec Baldwin was good in 'Malice'

Maybe, but he wouldn't do in a nightclub though.

Or Pete Campbell! He bought a dress to seduce a girl!

Christian Troy and Charlie Sheen would be my favs! I can relate to them, because they want it... and it shows them fail with women too.

I haven't seen either, but trailers from The Bodyguard seemed like it'd be possible. Not sure with Malice haha!

Lol. Yea he's definitely a low energy, jazz music playing at an 'adult bar' kind of guy.

Or Pete Campbell!
Finna mini-rant for a sec,

Honestly I always saw Pete as someone who got the shittier side of being a "Mad Man". I felt like the majority of the women he seduced were mainly attracted to his status of success and the possibility of playing as a gold digger. He got some sexy women in the series through wielding his power and occasionally some charm, sure, but also got swept up in his ego and lost some of the more meaningful/deeper thing he had in his life.

That also happened to Don and Roger, but their course of self destruction was much "cooler" and enjoyable to watch. They were straight pimps with vices, they "created" the lifestyle. Pete saw the lifestyle and chased after it. At least that's how I saw it..
Christian Troy and Charlie Sheen would be my favs! I can relate to them, because they want it... and it shows them fail with women too.
Nice. Definitely some other good examples here. Thanks for sharing!

I agree with the Hank Moody recommendation. Guy drips of sexuality, and while he may not be the most proactive in pursuing women, it would kind of ruin the show if he was, seeing as he plays the sexy and magnetic writer.

A recommendation that personally has helped me a lot with my game - especially in learning how to best utilize a warm tone - is Ryan Reynolds. Now I'm not only saying this because of how he was rated Hottest Dad of The Year whenever that was. I persuaded a very sweet and surprisingly freaky Asian girl on tinder when I was drunk after an unsuccessful night at a bar by calling her up and semi-modeling Reynold's voice. May have been coincidence, but women respond well to a playful and warm tone in my experience, probably because I'm very tall and decently filled out and I've been told I can be intimidating otherwise.

Reynold's tone of voice is very inviting and friendly, but he still has that masculine purr, and he is extremely playful.
I'm thinking of his roles in Van Wilder and in Deadpool specifically, though any of his interviews are also a good model if you're more of a high energy guy. If I remember correctly he switches between highly playful, silly, and energetic to more suave and smooth in both the movies I mentioned, leaning towards the high energy side always (I will admit it's been a while since I've been both movies).
He is also just very charismatic and his high energy is infectious.

Girls swoon for a man who can successfully integrate seemingly disparate qualities into a socially acceptable personality.

Here's a couple more I like:
- Benedict Cumberbatch in Sherlock Holmes embodies many of the byronic qualities of an attractive man, and you'll see his self-proclaimed sociopathic character serve him to seduce women from time to time in order to get information or favors that he wants. May not be the greatest example because, y'know, he's a sociopath (or is he? watch the show if you haven't already ;) )

- Ragnar Lothbrok in Vikings. Piercing eye contact, strong and graceful yet casual body language.

- Vicky, Christina, Barcelona. Actually saw this in an article on this site a ways back so you may have seen it already, and Juan (I think that was his name) effectively cold approaches and seduces two beautiful women (not to mention Scarlett Johansson stars in the film, ouuffff)

- Robert Downey Jr in nearly anything. Uses very self-aggrandizing speech but does it in a socially adroit way. This personality trait seeps into a lot of his characters.

- Will Smith in Hitch of course, that's obvious though considering he's a dating coach in the film and I wouldn't doubt most people on the boards have seen this movie. I found it pretty funny as well, but a cheesy ending. Good movie to watch with your girl.

- If you can bear it, Hemlock Grove. Two of the characters - Peter and Roman - embody classic archetypes that women consistently read about in erotica and fantasy: the werewolf and vampire. So yea, you're probably groaning, but it's basically a more badass twilight. Arguably one of the best werewolf transformation scenes on T.V, and a more interesting than usual take on vampires from 'Scandinavian?' (not sure) folklore. I say if you can bear it because it's got a very different style than most television these days, and I only really watched it because I was binging it for a weekend with a girlfriend, and the characters had her really turned on. Or it might have been me, but likely both. If anything check out the transformation scene because why not. While I can't stand the entitled and snobby traits of Roman he still has many qualities that women adore.

- Jason Momoa in general. Good in Frontier and Game of Thrones. Only a little bit of actual seduction, but his body language and actions are very powerful.

- Luke Cage. Very smooth, very suave, very strong (both literally and in fundamentals). If you dig Marvel you can get two birds stoned at once with this one.
