I read Chase's article on a Shy Excited Girl and the description fits this girl perfectly, except questionably her taste in men. I've got some complicated dynamics and I'm wondering what to do. I am trying to at least get past her wall and hopefully farther. I've actually been this girls manager at work for the last two years and really had no interest in her until recently. Up till this point it has been strictly business, she has always been a quiet, extremely driven and purposeful girl, and I have treated her solely as a employee. I am usually a quiet intellectual during the day, but as a manager, I come across as a stiff and a bit loud because its my job to keep people on task. I've been known to brag on occasion(yes, yes, very bad, I'm working on it). Because of this and the time we have known each other, I can't pull any tactics on her because she already knows what I'm about, she has seen my good days and bad. She has always kept her life outside of work a complete mystery. She almost never starts casual conversation with me, its always me initiating. She does however laugh and talk much more easily with another guy in the office, who is older than her and much more charismatic than me. He has absolutely no interest in her or her in him but I can tell he likes the attention so he keeps it up for fun. She has never been this open with me and she seems to intentionally stonewall me. Recently I have initiated a conversation that led her to open up a bit about her past and I shared a bit as well. Since then this seems to have caused her to back off even more, almost to a point of disdain for me. Some info on this girl: She's 22, very shy, conservative, and driven at work but very social, constantly active, and free outside of work. She outright lies at work to protect her outside life. In high school she would regularly attend hard metal concerts(this surprised me at first). She is attractive, knows it, and uses it. I'm married and she knows it. How can I reach this girl?
