I know hospitals freak a lot of people out and for good reasons. If this doesn't bother you than hospitals are a great place to approach women if you have the right attitude. Hospitals are filled with a lot of very helpful young women who will go out of their way to answer your questions. Indirect approaches are very easy. The thing you want to do in a hospital is to make sure you don't look like you are there to approach women. You need to look like you are there for a legitimate reason. If you stand in the lobby approaching women it won't take security long to be escorting your ass out the building. A few of this points for hospitals.
1. Dress you best. Look awesome. Yes this is always important but in hospitals you want women to pay attention to you who are used to working with doctors and other professionals. Button up shirt, dress slacks, and dress shoes are a minimum.
2. Indirect approaches abound and are easy opener. You can ask for directions to a department or ask when visiting hours are. From there you can move forward.
3. Nurses are very busy. Watch them to see if they are in a hurry. Approach them in they appear to be on a break. If they are moving slower or walking in a group. Be aware that they may only have a short time frame to talk to you. If she is getting antsy than go for getting a number and preset up a meeting later on.
4. There are other professional women in the building besides nurses. Doctors are tough but social worker and administrative ladies are readily open to approaches.
5. Note that in a lot of hospitals the care givers do not wear wedding rings. This is for sanitary reasons. Be aware you may be approaching a married lady. Be prepared to deal with this.
Next time you are in a hospital be observant. They are a place where a lot of women are and the public moves around freely. Be discreet and don't be creepy.
