Like reading threads such as these, going out to bars and practicing, etc. My view is that while I have friends who have dabbled in this stuff, none are willing to come out and admit it.

I'd estimate a tiny percentage? I've only ever met one person who was even aware of this stuff, and he was the one who introduced me to the mysterymethod like 10 years back. (He gave up game after 2 years of creeping girls out. Felt like the concepts weren't designed for UK girls! I dropped mysterymethod after a few months and discovered RSD who were a little less cringy in their techniques lol)

When I spent time in America, it was clear how more common it was too cold approach people in comparison to the UK, though, so maybe it's more popular there? I've been going to bars regularly for over a decade, and it's honestly so damn rare to see someone cold approach here. Like, super rare!

When I grew in the 80s myself and a mate of mine use to go out hitting on women. We never called it pickup back then in fact we never had the luxury of the internet. I wish we did :). We called it sharking. Now I remember one of my friends back then bought a hard back book on how to pickup women from the back of the playboy magazine. When he told everyone about this book he was frowned upon "ohhh your such a loser why do you need a book to teach how to chat up women"

Fast foreward to today nothing has changed men are afraid of hurting thier fragile egos so they never talk about what society would term a taboo subject. All men know about pickup but are afraid to admit it.

I don't think many men want to see themselves as PUA's. I don't see myself as one either. I think most of us just want to be more comfortable to be able to go and chat a girl up with the obvious intent of sex, whether that be ONS, FB, FWB or LTR doesn't matter. When I've seen other guy friends failing and have made suggestions and supported them with sound logical understanding they've been gobsmacked that you can break it down into a defined process. When they start to apply some basics they suddenly see their success rate go up but still don't see themselves in a different light.

As said above I think a mans self image/ego is fairly fragile and there's many reasons for that, mainly based on societies expectations and it's very difficult for most men to feel comfortable to openly stand outside of those which is what is really required to admit you are looking to meet and pick up girls, even though though that's what 99% of men intend to do.

Consequently I think very few men would admit to being PUA or having a process etc. What I find really interesting is watching guys who are really successful in picking up girls and then chatting to them about what they did, why, etc. They usually have no awareness of a logical process, they just do it on intuition. There are many more men who do it by intuition and previous success than those that analyze it and apply a logical process.

I know some guys who are into it. But, it seems that most guys are, or want to be "relationship guys". They want to lock it down because they have been socially conditioned to do that.

Nowadays it seems that fewer guys are going to bars to practice, and are more reliant on online game. I think they find that it's easier to just send a message than to walk up to a girl who might reject them face to face.

I think it is very natural to want relationships, if you are social, that need for long term companionship is just built in. It happened to me. I swore I would never get married. I am new to this forum but I first took the 'red pill' back in 2007. So that has been 13 years I have known about PUA. I became inactive on forums, etc since 2013. Nobody really wants to be seen as just a label.

I suppose I was a PUA as long as I was active on the forums. I had no problem calling myself that online, but I would not go around advertising to other guys that I was a 'PUA'. I would just tell guys that there are resources online to learn about women, and that I learned a lot from it. I usually would avoid saying 'Dude I'm a PUA'. I think very few guys outside in the world take it seriously. Many probably heard about it but don't fully understand the whole 'red pill' thing.

So after gaining a lot from the PUA community, I just considered myself as a guy who has learned a lot, and sort of 'escaped the matrix'. However taking the red pill did not stop the tendency to get into an LTR. I am currently married to a woman I met in 2013 and since left the forums to just live life and focus on that. Learn from my own personal experience bad or good instead of a community.

What I can tell you right now, is what I learned from the PUA community and 'red pill' was spot on. I am not sure if I will stay married, and hence why I came back. Looks like a lot of the OG's are here which is nice. Long term relationship and marriage are definitely not happily ever after, and it is good to know that forums like this are still here when reality hits you in the face. Still, I would not tell any guys to actively avoid relationships and marriage. I'd say go for it, but learn from it and remember that this community exists, and that the matrix is real.
