The message is that you should treat a girl different from what's she accustomed to.
Say she's accustomed to being treated bad, like everybody in school bullies her because she has a certain physical handicap or she is socially retarded... nobody really pays attention to her when she finally speaks her mind. It's like she's invisible. We can even add that her family is tied up with work and stuff and doesn't have time to be with her.. But then some new guy joins the school, and he sees her beauty. He appreciates it. And he tells her that he finds her gorgeous and wants to hang out. She might be surprised and maybe auto reject at first because nobody has paid attention to her for so long, why would he do that? The attention she's wanting is finally here. He is valuable to her now.
Let's say a few year passes, and the same girl is in the exact opposite situation: she's accustomed to getting attention, and lots of it. Every girl and guy treat her like a queen because of her physical appearance (makeup and workout) and level of status (she climbed the ladder). She's not invisible at all now. Everybody listens when she speaks, and she will always be right. But this time, a new guy joins the school who isn't afraid to oppose her and speak his mind. He isn't afraid to disagree with her, which is new to her. Why won't he bend over like all the other slaves? She wonders. They get friends on Facebook and follow each other on instagram, but despite that he hasn't liked a single one of the 10 pictures she uploads on a daily basis like her orbiter friends. What's with this charming guy whom she hasn't wrappes around her finger? He makes her feel invisible (and also like she's just another person - which she might like or dislike). He is challenging her. And that frustrates her, but deep down she loves it.
This could be the same girl in different times of her lives. What is she accustomed to when you meet her? You must find a way to be different from that in a way that makes her want you.
