How much to drink on dates

Had a question about how much it's recommended to drink on dates.

In the past, perhaps to compensate for my own incompetence in leading or physically escalating, I would drink immoderately on dates and hope that the drunkenness would take the girl and me to hookup territory. It's worked, albeit sporadically. On reflection though, when I get sloppy I just get stupid and less and less calm and charming as the night wears on.

On one particular date last week, we just drank and drank and drank and yapped each others ears off because I didn't lead and didn't have the presence of mind to make a move. She went into autorejection after the third hour of talking and didn't respond to my follow up text.

On my date last night, with another girl, I preplanned what I'd do on the date. I stuck to only one drink for me and her (Rum+Coke for me, she ordered tequila) then I made a move and went in for the kiss about one hour in. She was into it.

So I wanted to ask the board: do you guys drink on dates, and how much?

Had a very similiar experience a week ago. I generally keep a very healthy lifestyle which obviously adds to my lesser tolerance, so as the time passed I was getting fucked while she was literally being my mother asking all the time if I am fine lol. Never drink with irish women haha. We had an awesome connection but then I wasn't leading properly and neediness kicked in too. No response to my texts was an appropriate reaction even though I did many things right.

I don't want to generalize, but my strategy for the future would probably be avoid drinking or drink one beer/cocktail and that's it. I might seem too boring to some girls but then I say to myself this isn't really a criteria I wanna be judged by a girl I am looking to spend more time with.

I usually drink one beer, maybe one beer and a shot on dates. If you rely on alcohol, you will not do so well without it.

I try to avoid getting girls drunk as well because girls may regret their decision to sleep with you afterwards, blaming it on alcohol.

That being said, I have a friend who makes girls drunks and have sex with them, it works for him. I never heard from him about a girl who caused much of a problem afterwards.
