That affirms even more my sense that girls should always be treated as silly. Sure, they are an adult and may be quite intelligent, but as far as what will make her feel fuzzies and respect you, "silly" seems to be it.
As much as I'd try to get my ex to dive into her biotech work, she never really wanted to. Get her to be silly and call her on it? She loved that.
