How to get out of this - Slow escalation

BEST DATE EVER
I met a girl in public and we had an awesome first date. It took 8 hours, and we had lots of fun. We had "accidental touches" and she started biting her lip all over.
At the end of the night, I took her back to her place, but I hesitated to kiss her because of the place. I am a too romantical asshole (She isn't).

We scheduled a second date that night (for a week later)

IT WAS TERRIBLE!!
She only had/gave me two hours, and wanted to leave after 1,5 for a maybe imaginary practice. I don't know why...
We talked about her travel, mostly she did the talking, but seemed to enjoy the date after all.
I gave her a gift, (self-made flower) and she freaked out a bit.
I walked her home, and I got the lame "not ready for a relationship" ending. I haven't even had a chance to kiss her.
ps: I was late for both dates #1: 2min #2: 16min

I texted her that I liked the first date, we should go on one like that and she only said "OK"

THE QUESTION:
What do you recommend if I want to give it a last try?
How should I ask her out?
Should I take her to a romantic date?
On the date should I kiss her early on, and try to bed her, or give her time to rethink the friend-zone, and only go for a kiss at the end?

If you had a similar start and managed to succeed, how?

You mentioned that she was not the romantic sentimental type from your initial meet. Beside the gift there were probably other things you did and talked that made her feel uncomfortable. It was probably why wanted to leave. I doubt she has any attraction that would make her agree to meet again. Hypothetically if I was in this situation I would just make her a friend and see if she can help with other girls as this is the best ROI I can see. while it was not the outcome you expected this experience would help you with interactions down the road with other girls.
