How to stand

I ended up with a girl over at my place and she was sitting on my couch. I don't know why I didn't sit down next to her, but I brain-farted and didn't. Instead, I stood in front of her and I couldn't figure out what to do with my hands. I kept fidgeting and moving them from my side to my thumbs latched in my front pockets to my thumbs latched in my back pockets to my hands on my hips. I felt like a total idiot and I'm sure it showed.

Next time, I will sit next to her. But for future reference when there isn't a place to sit, what should I do with my hands so I don't look like a fool?

If she is in your place the only thing you should be doing with your hands is touching her. If I'm standing they are standing, if I'm sitting they are sitting. You should be leading, if she sat down pull her to stand close with you then sit down before she gives an objection like "I'm tired" "I want to sit"

Keep practicing more of these situations will make it second nature.
