Why is it so hard for the average man to get laid?

According to more recent studies the average man gets laid around 12 - 15 times in his life. That’s actually pretty decent when you consider that the average guy will never cold approach a single woman (outside possibly a drunk semi cold approach at college).
It’s not hard to get laid if you put effort into your fundamentals and approach women.
one of the big reasons so many guys on seduction forums have problems getting laid is because they neglect fundamentals in favor of wanting to rush into the more “advanced stuff.” They will be approaching women trying to do advanced NLP sex talk stuff while being hunched over and wearing a poorly fitting anime shirt (former client of mine. True story).

. At least some, or many, I do not have any statistics. Your question is also one which can be answered in many ways, it could be your fundamentals, it could be your lack of social circle, it could be your social awareness, it could be you being timid. It could be, it could be.Perhaps you should put your story here so we can understand what is going on. You are a late bloomer, that is clear from your name.
Being average does not work anymore. Maybe it worked in the past. Not now or in future. In work, business, sport, entertainment, school and yes with top girls, you need to be exceptional. Competition (or Darwinism perhaps) is a fact of life i.e: put in the required work. Need to earn it.

Go to a nightclub with your average guy friends, and watch them try to pick up hot babes. They almost always get blown off immediately. And if they don't, the girls will ask for free drinks which they happily buy her, hoping she will give him a chance. Never saw it happen. The club is full of average girls as well, and some of them are open to meet a guy similar to themselves. But the average guys usually don't notice these girls or make fun of them.

Getting laid is not hard.
Getting laid with with a woman you admire and want to have a relationship with is.
The reason it feels like a challenge is because regular guy thinks any girl he lays has a high probability of dragging him into a relationship so he avoids unless she is one of the top 10% women he knows.
This is a paradox because that 10% attractive women want to get laid with the 10% attractive men.
So regular guy has trouble because he is regular but doesn’t want to lay regular, he wants exceptional.
Every seducer needs to go through a phase of laying “decent” girls to get past this impasse and get the experience needed to seduce exceptional women.

Let's do some crude arithmetic. Let's say you're not a particularly ambitious guy, all you want is a woman who's not overweight, aged between 20-30, and better than average looking.
60% of women are overweight, that leaves 40%.
If women live to 80, and we assume (I did say crude arithmetic) that 12.5% of the remaining women are 20-30, that leaves 5%.
Better than average looking? Now we're down to 2.5%.
I'm sure there's a lot wrong with this calculation, but even if it's way off, there's no question that this is a very small minority of women.
The good news is that women write a similar amount of guys off for their own reasons, and guys write themselves off by not taking action. So if you work on yourself, learn game, approach and stand out, it's far from impossible. But if you want a good quality woman, and you're really the average guy in every respect, it's going to be hard to do.

Please can you explain this? What can I do as an average guy in all facets do to get this? I don't want no supermodel chicks, just a normal looking one, don't even really care if she's fat. Just not too old

Hell, an average guy who just approaches an “above average” amount of times will get results.
I’m a big fan of haircuts & dressing well as it has extremely quick ROI to get very good outcomes.

Slight counter-nitpick: in which case she is not having sex for the "love of sex" - that is, if the compliance is not inherently linked to you generating pure sexual desire and making her feel allowed to act upon it. Examples of that would would be "money" or "social value".
