... when somebody replies in a thread I'm participating myself? I thought I could easily remove this option, but I can't find it anywhere

a-jay,

In the e-mail you receive for the thread, there should be a link with an option to unfollow the thread so you no longer receive notifications. It should be at the bottom of the e-mail and pre-faced with the following message:

If you no longer wish to watch this topic you can either click the
"Unsubscribe topic" link found at the bottom of the topic above, or by
clicking the following link:

Franco,

Thank you. I was hoping for a general way to not receive e-mails at all, but guess it's inevitable :) however, if you make this option available in the future, I would be glad to know

Good to know. I'll now know to never post in a thread unless I want to be spammed to death.
I'll never understand that default behavior.

They have it a little buried in there, I've no idea why, but...

User Control Panel -> Board Preferences -> Edit posting defaults -> Notify me upon replies by default -> No

As for Effortless, he seems to have gone to the trouble of joining the boards expressly to tell us he would not be participating on the boards. Guess he really has a thing about those notifications.

I would think the act of creating an account just to mention that you don't want to post is a lot of "Effort" in and of itself... ;)

Found it. We'll see later on if it works.

Real smooth chase. Brimmed with sass :)
Can't wait for your post on wittiness when it comes out of the queue!

Chase, unfortunately your suggestion didn't work. If there is no other option, I'll just let it be

A-Jay-

Looked it up. Seems this is the deal with subscribing/unsubscribing:

  • The setting in your User Control Panel is the default. That'll apply to new posts you make - when it's set to "Notify me", you'll be subscribed to threads you post in by default; when it's set to "Don't notify me" you will not be subscribed to new posts by default

  • Changing your default setting does not affect previous subscriptions. To subscribe/unsubscribe to a thread you were previously subscribed or not to, scroll down to the bottom of that post's page and click "Unsubscribe topic" (or "Subscribe topic" if you're trying to sign up for notifications)

So any you're still getting notifications for, just click the "Unsubscribe" button at the bottom of those topics and they'll no longer send notifications. If you've set your default to "Don't notify me", you won't subscribe to new topics you post in as well.
