I'm terrible at keeping up my own advice here often enough but a few things which can easily extend their life, keep them looking sharp:
- Get shoe trees, cedar ones. Target or TJ Maxx actually always seem to have them on sale around here. I brushed them off as un-neccessary for years but I picked a few pairs up a while back. If you make sure you put them in as soon as you take your shoes off instead of just leaving them lie around they actually are great at keeping the shape of any leather shoes.
- As for product. There's plenty leather shampoos and so on. Should just keep the leather soft so you don't get a lot of permanent folds and creases. No need to over-do it but every once in a while.
- Shoes polish. Goes without saying, polish your shoes up any time you're heading out for the night. Makes them look spotless and shiny and actually gives me a nice boost always when I feel I'm wearing a kick ass pair of boots or shoes. They make or break an outfit, and girls notice
