Hi! I'm Wanderer.o'7, I'm a nineteen year old fresh out of high school (if you consider about a year fresh) looking for a place to call home.

My original plan was to go someplace in southern CA but as soon i'd heard they where flinging shit around there like monkeys I decided to reconsider that idea. I live in the US and fair better in warmer weather (in fact, I actually have seasonal depression in the winter due to the short days and such). I'm hoping to find a place that isn't too far from a city or beach (hey, guy can dream-right?) but my biggest concern is crime.

I only have enough money for the car own now which just so happens to be old, really nice looking, and a not so secure convertible (aside from the basic wheel lock and a tracker I'm investing in- call me paranoid). In terms of women, I tend to do fine with girls in any area with a high enough population. Overall, I've been looking at Florida lately but having crocs in just about every puddle makes me worry a bit about pets and about keeping all my limbs in general XD but I'll take it if that's my only option.

Either way, I'm just trying to figure things out so I can plan and save up accordingly since I'm currently unemployed (something I'm working on at the moment).

Bottom line, the question I find myself asking the most now a days is where the fuck am I gonna live? XD Hoping you guys could give some suggestions! I've got my preferences but I'm open to just about any place that doesn't have shit in the streets! Thanks in advance :)

You might like Miami. South Beach if you can afford it.

It's kinda a different world over there but a pretty cool place with an abundance of sexy senoritas.

There aren't any alligators in the cities in Florida so I'm sure your pets will be just fine.

A second bet for Florida might be ft. Lauderdale or Orlando.

I lived in Orlando for a few years and it's certainly a decent city for pickup but by no means amazing. Again as far as Florida is concerned South Beach Miami is the spot for women.

Might want to also consider moving abroad and not limit yourself to the US at such a young age. Though you may not be able to take your car with you.

Find a job you can do using public transportation. Sell the car. Keep looking for a better paying job and save up what your car payment and insurance would be. Look for jobs you could do out of the country to get some international experience.

Don't let a car hold you back. See the world. It is cheaper than trying to find a home...

I was lucky that I moved from the west to the east when I was younger and lived most of my life in a selection of the emerging tiger and dragon economies.
Asia is pretty much past its prime at the moment and if I was young again, this time I would relocate to the African highlands. Places like Addis and Kigali are being flooded with FDI and are set to grow very quickly over the next couple of decades.

(Super exhausted from today but wanted to get back to this so don't mind me if I add too much clarification. I'm just trying to make sure I'm coherent)

Well, I think this is the most I've ever seriously looked at a globe XD which I'm gonna rotate back to in a minute but first I really wanna say thanks to everyone for all the feedback thus far, it's really given me a lot to consider please keep em' coming! I felt more lost than I when actually watched the show 'lost' for the first time!

Now about the world beat vibe I'm picking up here:

As someone who has never set foot out of the country in my entire life, it admittedly seems like an intimidating idea given I've never really learned a second language (accept a few random Italian words my grandparents figuratively ingrained in my head a few years back). I am however more open to visiting (at least until I warm up to the idea a bit more) although I'm not exactly sure how expensive this would be. Also are there certain languages I should focus on learning for my potential world-wide tour?

Fuck This, hello again, long time no chat! I see you still haven't said "fuck this" regarding myself :)

Jibber-Jabber aside, I like the idea of traveling the world (surprise! The wanderer likes the idea of traveling) and am currently looking into a career in travel writing (and other travel oriented jobs such as working on a cruise ship in one way or another) thus killing two birds with one stone (travel expenses and generally having a form of income).

TLDR for the car (I go into detail in the paragraph below): While I understand selling the car could free me up and give a financial boost, it's just not something I wanna do.

As per the car, I realize a lot of people here are seeing this as a limitation but there some areas I tend to frequent that don't have public transportation (such as family gatherings) and I do like the independence that I've gotten ever since getting the car (plus it's saved me some cash on not having to take dates to hotels... I haven't exactly kept my activities up to date on this forum :p ). In a financial sense, I've just paid it off completely a few months back and rarely ever spend much on gas (almost never more than $30 per month in US Dollars) plus my parents pay for my insurance until the day I move out.

And finally, although I agree that traveling the world is the better choice, I don't want to be a homeless dick either- I'm not exactly sure how much longer my parents are willing to put up with me XD (seriously though, I've already come close to getting kicked out a couple of times so I'll probably be renting some place closer to home next year and I'm hoping to not to die five miles from home either thus the reason for this post.

Rob, glad to hear that there aren't alligators lurking in city puddles :) Miami is defiantly one place I'm considering (although it is pricey). I'll have to look into ft. Lauderdale and Orlando. I've also heard good things about the Tampa Bay area although I haven't heard anything on the local women- thoughts?

Languages are easy to pick up once you are in country. I would have suggested Chinese up until about a week ago, but now it might not be so useful!!
Travel writing is a tough industry to get into these days. I did a lot of my travelling as a paid guide book writer but all those publishers were put out of business by Tripadvisor and the like.
Teaching is an easier option in most places, and being able to work a bar is always a useful skill.
If you want to work on cruise ships, Roosh has a great book on the subject.
Can you dance? Being able to salsa is useful skill all over the planet.

Thailand is not the ideal destination it once was.
Long term visas are not as easy as they were, and so if you are working online, visa runs can be troublesome and expensive.
LOS has also become quite a bit more expensive than it once was, plus it already has the most number of coronavirus infections outside of China. The economy has rapidly been hit hard, losing billions over a bleak CNY, and there is also the likelihood of a major drought in the next few months, not to mention political strife if the economic situation worsens. The PM has handled the situation very badly so far, and Thanathorn is well-placed to take advantage of this.

The visa situation next door in Cambodia is much more favourable for a young guy, and somewhere like Siem Reap is a great party town with plenty of cheap options. Even more interesting is Sihanoukville. More than a hundred new casinos have opened in the last year, along with lots of hotels and apartment complexes. Unfortunately, with the online gambling ban, the bubble has burst, and we may see a surplus of cheap accommodation in the new year. This could make Sihanoukville very attractive again, once all the infrastructure is completed.

Without the support of Chinese tourism, even Vietnam might be an interesting option. Places like Danang on Nhatrang have developed rapidly on the back of Chinese investment, making them just almost as pleasant as Thai beach resorts. Only time will tell what happens with the coronavirus at the end of the extended golden week on Friday. Evrything in SEA is in turmoil at the moment, and it is very difficult for anybody to accurately predict exactly what will happen.
