I think this is one area that I could use to improve my overall ability with women. I know Chase did a post on it a ages ago, but I was interested in hearing from other people and for Chase to perhaps add further and elaborate on things.

From what I remember from the article, if you are a man who doesn't get stressed around women it is good to forgo wearing cologne and let nature run its course via utilizing its own natural concoction of chemicals. If you are a man who stresses around women its better to wear a cologne to cover up the stress chemicals that are released picked up by women via scent.

Honestly I don't ever get stressed around women, but cologne was something that up to this point I usually wore (I haven't really been bothered up till now to working on this area) but I would like to learn how to develop the perfect scent etc.

Key questions: (pretty must related to the article)

- What smell exactly is meant by musk, I don't quite get that. Is it the smell after working out, or the smell you get when you don't wear aftershave for a day or two?

- I know Chase has said he finds better results with women a while after showering rather just just after - does this mean daily showers and always being squeaky clean etc are a bit effeminate and this practice should be reevaluated?

- Apparently a womans sense of smell is more sensitive that a mans does this not mean that they could be quickly repelled by strong body odor etc?

One thing I know for sure is cleaning my hair everday makes it look frizzy and annoying, so I always do my hair every other day or more, I find it gives it volume and texture.

Sorry if this is in wrong category.

Giving this post a bump as I think it's interesting. I can't answer any of the questions, but I have noticed myself that I have gotten sometimes surprising amounts of interest from women in situations when I have gone somewhere directly from work, in the same clothing I've been in all day, without freshening up.

Girls on the other hand, I've always found they look at their best around 8 AM, while their make-up is still perfect, their business clothing is crisp and they're well-rested and glowing :))) used to drive me nuts riding the subway in the mornings to work, when I previously lived in another part of the world, before I'd found this site or had any idea what I was doing!

A related subject I've often wanted to discuss here—but haven't opened a discussion to date for fear that the "ick factor" is too high—is the issue of post-coital pheromones. Specifically, I've read that girls pick up on preselection chemically, with their noses. That being the case, how long does it last (e.g. if you have sex the night before, are you still "preselected" in the morning?) and what do you have to do to preserve it? I generally take a shower almost immediately after sex, and usually the next morning as well. Am I disadvantaging myself?

There are parts of the world where people would think nothing of not showering for a few days, but North America is not one of them ;)

yeh chase has said something similar if i recall, after a workout in the gym girls seemed pretty receptive and from my experience individually this does ring true. this certainly goes against the grain of what most people seem to assume, in that its always best if a man is really well groomed, showered etc etc.

on post-coital pheromones, i can say with confidence that girls do appear to pick up on this. especially if you've had sex in the morning and gone out about your daily business and done a few approaches, there is definitely a higher than average amount of receptiveness and comfort with the girls. how long it lasts, i don't know.

would be great to hear from chase, i am sure he's looked into these things in greater detail. the whole pheromones/chemicals & scent and how girls/people unconsciously & subconsciously pick up on these things is very interesting.

Nova,

Chase and I have slightly different views on this topic, although our opinions do overlap. I have a good comment on Chase's article "Having a Male Scent That Fills Women With Lust" that describes what has been most effective for me. You can check that out here:

Nice reply Franco :) The only trouble is that it's going to be hard judging how I smell as it's very rare to receive compliments on body odour/smell, and women are never going to criticise it either.

What kind of smells work for you? (I normally wear sweet smells - apple and citrus to be precise. It smells so good to me, and I asked a girl once about it; she said my sweet smell was good).

interesting. i remember wearing armani di gio back in the day. always hard to grasp results thought. definitely want to research more into the 'natural route' however and see if their is anything concrete to it etc. after all scent is one of the 5 senses, its got to play a reasonable part.

I've really only used Right Guard Sport (fortuitously, I happened to like it, and it got good reactions at least from my last g.f.) and Old Spice 'Swagger' which is not as great. I tried Axe for a while early on, but no longer. I live with 3 female flatmates, and when I hugged one the other day, she said 'You smell good!' I said, jokingly, 'Do I smell like food?' She says 'No, you smell like MAN.' I had just had sex that night/morning, but I had showered, and put on new clothes.

I discovered that scent is really important for me, in women. When I first met my last g.f., I was also seeing a couple other girls, and I realized that sex with my pre-g.f. was waaay more pleasant for me, and it came down to her scent. I was made uncomfortable by the smell of the other two, but SHE smelled so good I wanted to bite her. I pay more attention to a woman's scent now, because it makes a big difference to how hot the sex is for me.

Ryan,

What kind of smells work for you?

I always go for "clean and masculine" when it comes to scent. This is why those blue-tinted fragrances seem to fit well. They have that ocean-clean scent with a hint of manliness to them. You'll have to experiment with what works best for you.

One thing I recommend: don't ask women for an opinion on how you smell. They will likely just say that you smell good in order to not rock the boat. If you actually do smell sexy and attractive, a woman will usually bring it up herself, and it will be in the midst of a sexual interaction. That will let you know you've found a winning combination. ;)
