So there is this girl at my college who I've had my sights on. She has been friendly and chatty with me inside and out of class. I gave her my number because we were going to meet up and study together but I didn't hear back from her and she was away for a week. A few days ago I asked if she would be interested in going out for coffee on the weekend to which she replied maybe and got really blushed and shy. I told her to send me her number which she did in class a while later. Yesterday I sent her a text asking if she would be interested in going out over the weekend. She replied back saying she already had a boyfriend and felt sorry if she gave the wrong message. My question is why she would bother giving me her number if she wasn't serious. Like I said she is really nice and seems to be interested but then again at times she isn't and plays hard to get. Is it worthwhile keeping her as a friend or should I just move on?
