The Halloween festivities at the bars around my school spilled over from Friday to tonight. So I went there, did a little bit of dancing. Not necessarily looking to bone, but if the situation arose, so be it (I, like many others, suffer from extreme approach anxiety, which I desperately need to work on). Towards the end of the night, my friends and I duck away to a room away from the dance floor with only a few people in it. We're about to leave when these two girls ask if I'm supposed to be the Beast from Beauty and the Beast (pic http://imgur.com/wTYr86B). I said oh I'm actually going for British nobleman, but that I've gotten that response several times that night. I asked them their names, blah blah blah. What they study, their passions, standard deep dive stuff. One of the girls left to go to the bathroom for an inordinately large amount of time, giving me time to talk to the other girl.
Here's where things start to go downhill...
A huge weakness of mine is the inability to keep the deep dive deep. It always winds up being surface level stuff. That's not to say the girl wasn't enjoying the conversation, but she wasn't enjoying it in the sexual manner we aim for. Every time she said something funny or amusing I smiled or chuckled but always dialed it back as best I could. By this time, her friend is still on her inordinately long bathroom trip. I wanted to say so badly "Why don't we go back to my place and we'll have another drink?" or something along those lines, but I just couldn't, I choked up so bad, leaving a huge awkward void where the conversation used to be.
Then her friend and another girl came back, and said "You two should totally exchange numbers!" and stared at us creepily and awkwardly.
Long story short, this interaction went nowhere.
