OK, first things first, this takes place in Tokyo and I’ve never seen as many guys approach girls in the street as I’ve seen Japanese guys.
Two days ago there was a girl. Flashy girl yes, but not that flashy, just skirt and high heels like so many other girls. She was walking towards the metro station around one of the big evening spots carrying a trolley.
In the short space of maybe 300 meters between two traffic lights she got approached by Four different guys. Four!
That’s freaking crazy!
MEET THE RSD GUY
Anyway, I’m walking around when a blonde guy approaches me saying "he's up to the same thing I'm probably up to" and we keep rolling together.
To approach women he walks to their side for a few meters, but very close, at exactly their same pace, which makes it obvious he’s there with an agenda and gives off, in my opinion, and “off” vibe.
We talked to several girls, but I’ll outline just two main ones here:
TOO MUCH FUN
As he speaks to two women he barely introed me and speaks Japanese with the girls, which makes me feel like I'm some kind of dork hanger-on.
So when I lock eyes with a girl passing by with her friend -let's call them "my girl" and "GF- I just leave and go say hi.
The girl clearly likes me and both her and her friend stop to talk to me… All good and everyone's warm and nice... And then RSD guy storms in.
He takes the whole interaction over by going superfun in what, to me, is the typical Tyler/RSD style.
It’s a bit jarring, I probably have some mental hang ups about that “fun” style but at least here, I was having all my worst doubts confirmed.
The girls are laughing like hell. And not just that, they are repeatedly clapping their hands!
Yet GF also takes a couple of steps away a couple of times as if to keep going and RSD goes after them in what's becoming a clear “move away/chase dynamic”
My girl tries to re-bring me into the conversation for 2 or 3 times and I try to re-engage with her as well hoping RSD will go for the friend, but nope. He doesn't and we can’t manage to overpower the Japanese speaking RSD guy, and after a while the girls just bid farewell.
There it goes: a girl clearly into me disappearing in the night. What the fuck, RSD is cool guy, I enjoy talking to him, but I’m also thinking he’s a bit of a ballast in terms of girls’ interactions.

Little side story: he explains me a lot as he’s been here for more than 3 years and I’m amazed at hearing how, he says, things became markedly more difficult with women after a video from RSD Julien went viral and featured on Japanese national TV.
The video was of Julien RSD and he was saying you can do anything you want as a white guy. And to stress that, he went around "opening" women with Asian-sounding gibberish and taking women’s head and putting it on his crotch.
It was pretty a shit storm indeed, and while the video has long been removed there’s A LOT of talk about it on the Internet. Some videos talking about the event have more than a million views and here’s Julien being scolded as a baby with his hands in the jar on nothing less than CNN : Julien get scolded on CNN.
I understand it’s tough on the hot seat, but fuck was that a bad interview, he like went there begging for mercy, backtracked on everything and juts put his tail between his legs as the super unprofessional interviewer feasted on him.
I’m not sure such a video could have done such a remarkable difference single-handedly, but it was an interesting story and a pity the idiocy of that guy brought misconceptions of cold approaching in the minds of many women.
Anyway, fuck that if you use the story to make excuse or to lull in the broken paradigm of "things were so much better back then".
We keep rolling and we go to a bar, I talk to an older but still attractive woman from behind the back of another girl's chair. She’s happy to let her boobs rest on my hand and get her face very close to mine, but she’s alone, and I don’t feel like leaving my friend alone and try to isolate her.
Later he won’t have the same remorse in going to sit with her, but anyway..

After exchanging contacts with chubbier he keeps talking and making fun. And now blonde is more into him, so he goes for her. Argh, just switching woman to hit on in front of them. In the past when I talked to two girls and focused on one just to get rebuffed by her having a BF I always felt idiotic to then target her friend.
Anyway, Again same technique from RSD, and blonde likes it even more than chubbier!
She’s cracking up laughing like a little hyena all the time and enjoying the attention like noone’s business.
When he exaggerates with a full front hugging and face seductively close to her hear blonde taps on his chest and I think “ok, that’s a friendly sign you're crossing the line”, but then she let her rest her hand on his chest, and that’s not a friendly gesture anymore.
Among all the banter he exchanges contact with her (first got refused, then went again on a fun rampage, that of backing off and going for it was actually good). Then weakly propose to go somewhere for a drink and I jump on it. But... Did you guess it? My opinion doesn’t count that much here lol and RSD doesn’t stick to his guns. So we just keep standing here as the girls laugh their asses off and RSD keeps his strong kino up.
After some more time which seems an eternity to me I realize all this banter and hugging plateud a long time ago and isn’t going anywhere, so I jump in and push to move for a drink.
It doesn’t happen: it’s a girl’s night says chubbier and they’re now going back to her place. I push for joining them, but RSD isn’t full force behind the idea of inviting us over: he’s just too happy with the performance so far I believe so they just go.
We later see the girls again actually: they didn’t go home.
But I was surprise at seeing blonde sending RSD two texts shortly after with love-stickers.
Was she really into him?

Anyway, around 3am maybe we went to a small club which was free entrance by now -great, entrance fees tend to be high here-.
A few black guys were hanging around there, which I thought wasn’t a great sign as it means girls who like black guys will probably go there, but it's no biggie.
I went to look at the dance floor and slightly move my body to the sound of the music. And of course RSD started jumping around and dancing with a group of 2 girls and a guy lol.
After 3 minutes I went for a drink and noticed a girl by herself as we locked eyes.
I decide to go for the drink first anyway, then if she’s still there I'll go for her.
Such a move raises your value but risks of not capitalizing on the moment if the girl moves.
But as I get my drink and turn she's still there and she's super warm. She was likely hoping for me to approach. I lock with my arm on the small shelf to our left.
She's here by herself. LOL, I smile to myself.
Light convo, light deep diving, some joking. She asks me where I live -near baby, very near
, of course-, she says she likes movies and I ask what's her favourite -I was like waiting for that lol- so when the beer is like 2/3 gone I say we finish it and we go watch Inception.
She laughs, I know she likes the idea, I repeat the plan and then we finish the beer and go.
The very first person I talked to in the club ended up being the girl I took home.
I was almost disappointed this was my first time in a Japanese club and I’m out after like 30 minutes or less and I almost regretted not having tried clubs before: who knows if it was going to be so easy everywhere?
On the way out I say bye to RSD who's chatting and drinking with two local guys.
He tries to stop me for a bit too long for my taste which underlines either disregard for my situation or lack of social intuition: in spite of strong buy in a pull is always a pull and you can’t let your girl go too far ahead by herself.
