Recently I encountered a situation in a cafe I frequent during lunchtime. A guy and a girl were sitting at a table, from the way they dressed, it seems that they are most likely colleagues.
The man was very engrossed in talking about himself, while the girl was trying to look attentive with a smile, but clearly bored. (Her eyes were roving, with a forced smile on her face.)
I have to admit: she is rather pretty. Anyone has any idea how to open in a situation like this? I move around solo so merging group is kinda out of the question. Also, either one is unlikely to move off without the other since they will probably head back to the office together.
Will I get shot down with the regular opening "I think you are really beautiful so I have to come and say hi?" and completely ignore the guy?
Any ideas?
