Pet ownership as a man and attracting women, does it have to be a dog?

I always hear how girls love guys with dogs and ideally a big dog.

They also say dog pics perform well in online dating.

As a guy though, is it expected that if you get a pet, it has to be a dog for you to see any benefit?

I recommend you only get a pet if you really want the pet. Not as a means to an end to attract women.

A dog is like an LTR that lasts for 12-15 years depending how long the dog lives. Unless you're going to abandon it at some point which is cruel.

Personally I love dogs, had one has a kid, I would love to have one now but where I live they are not allowed on the beach which is why I'm not getting one. It's great to meet people though. You have to walk the dog several times per day, and chatting with other dog owners is basically a given as the dogs sniff each other and do their thing. (Make sure to not get a psycho dog that just barks at others.) Also sometimes girls will come up and want to play with your dog... that doesn't mean that they're into *you* though.
