I was in my phone earlier today, checking youtube videos. I started questioning myself of doing such things with my time. I decided to sit on my desk, pencil in hand, paper in front of me, and wrote what was on my mind.

I'm obsessed with living a better life, yet, I don't take the necessary steps to improve it. It's the feeling of not being good enough that gets to me. The feeling of being the outcast, in this world of sheep, controlled by their own Society, with every step they take already planned by the rules and bounds they say we should follow. They aren't human anymore, free will? That's what Society makes you believe you have. Yet, they constantly bombard them, with what they should and shouldn't do. They aren't humans anymore, no. Simply robots with the ability to comprehend the tasks set forth for them, but not advanced enough to see what's right in front of their faces, right under their noses masquerading behind what they label as happiness, contribution, is really a higher order in disguise controlling their every move, their every thought. As the human race rots away, as the thirst for knowledge we once had minimizes, until it halts, they will turn into mindless creatures, reproducing, living for the sake of living. They will no longer thirst for power, for knowledge, for wisdom. They will be happy to live ordinary lives, to meet ordinary people, to have ordinary kids; and those kids will live ordinary lives, full of ordinary people, having ordinary kids; and the cycle of life will continue. As they get dumber and dumber, they, the human race is doomed, by their own demise. Doomed enough that we, creatures won't be able to stop the sabotage. How thou shall change those with no self-thought, no awareness, no ability to differentiate right from wrong, no drive to take the muddy path less walked, but simply take the concrete path because it's easier. I wish not to be reffered to as human, for I don't consider myself to be one anymore. As to be called a human in this point in time, is a disgrace to my name.

In my time I have encountered far too many, angry at the world in general, just as you.  That attitude alone strips them of their free will and ability to improve themselfs.  I hope you don't let this attitude bring you down so far and you too can see the world around you for what it is and evolve to have an understanding for it rather than let it work against you and slow your progress in this small amount of time we have here

Hello DL,

One can temper their disillusionment with a bit of history -- practically every man who's ever lived in a society has felt this way at some stage in his journey. The Egyptians 4500 years ago were saying the same thing: 'The world is going to the dogs, and things are irreparably bad. People are stupid, immoral, and I don't want to be part of this nonsense!'

This feeling typically manifests most prominently when an individual feels they have little or no influence on how things are turning out. No control of their life, no control of their future, and no light at the end of the tunnel. But know that it's only part of your unique unfolding in the world, not the end product or some ultimate realization of existence.

To address your particular case more specifically: It sounds like you're taking this whole life thing pretty seriously, which in my opinion is a mistake. Be sincere, yes, but when you take it seriously you totally miss the point and cause all sorts of feedback and hang-ups that ironically get in the way of doing anything seriously interesting or valuable.

Basically, it sounds like you're confusing your ego with your Self. For me, it was quite liberating when I realized that my ego (that element of our mind seemingly located somewhere behind the eyes and between the ears) is not the Self and that it's more like a one-track problem identifying scanner. So of course the world would seem to be just one big problem if we are identified with the element of our mind that scans for problems!

It also might be useful to note that people all over are trying to get a one up on the universe, and that all their efforts to do so are fundamentally in vain. You can't get a one up on the universe. That would necessitate you being something thrown into it; something other than it, instead of something grown out of it; a part of it.

You seem like passionate people -- I bet you could do great things if you realized that you couldn't.

Tat tvam asi, Monsieur Übermensch,

@bassman: I am not angry at the world. In fact I wrote this as a motivational tool for myself and others in times on need. The motivational part comes from how most in the world are doing the same thing with their lives. As a little boy I always wanted to do my own, I never payed attention in class and would always get in trouble because I felt like school was preparing me for something I didn't want to do with my life. My dream was to explore, and have endless adventures... still is. So this doesn't bring me down, in fact it brings me up, gives me more grit to work on myself, I don't want to end up like the many, I want to be the few.

@Howell: I know what you mean about the Ego and Self. I used to take it over my shoulder to try and help everyone become better people, until I realized not everyone wants to be changed, this days I just accept people for who they are, I no longer judge, or critizize people. This illustrates my mindset my mindset a while ago, and although it seems like I'm being. harsh with words, i truly see it as something to help me along my journey to differentiate myself from the modern man.

Yes. There are few leaders in the world and there are lots of followers. There are lots of sheep living in controlled society whose steps have been pre-planned, all they have to do is follow...

The current structure in society is to provide some sort of comfort for most people. Most people go to work 5 days a week, they spent about 40 hours a week at work or so. They don't have to worry much (relatively speaking), most have some job safety and stability. The price they pay for this is that the income is not that great, and many times they have to do jobs they didn't really want. They do it not because they like it but because it pays bills. They follow because following is more comfortable, it requires less energy and thus it is much easier than lead.

On the other hand, if you want to do things your own way and you are motivated enough you should definitely do it. Don't follow rules and structures of others. Lead your own steps, follow your own dreams. There is also price you have to pay: most likely you will have to spent more hours and exert much higher intensity to get ahead of other people. Unfortunately, you will also be "punished" by your success. For example, the harder you will be working and the more time you spent on becoming successful, the more taxes you have to pay. The system simply doesn't want you to be better, it wants to to be a sheep, mediocre follower...

So yes, walk your own way, be unique. Educate yourself first in the area you think is good, it is better to learn from other people's mistakes than making them own. I say spent around 30% on educating yourself in a field you like, and walk 70% your own way. Just an example, say you like writing and want to become a great writer. So spent time 30% on studying great and successful writers, their style and how they did it, and spent 70% on developing your own style.
