FR "Platonic Philosophy Coffee"

Ok, so I got a girl's phone number from one of my Phil classes. I send her the ice breaker text. She replies. The next day, I ask her out:

Me: "Emily, hey! Let's figure out a good time to grab coffee. How's tomorrow looking for you?
Her: During the week works best for me, also though, we're thinking absolutely platonic philosophy coffee right?<---WTF??
Me: Yeah, during the week works for me! Haha, no. That wasn't what I was thinking. I was asking you out on a date.

Not sure if this was a good reply. But it was the best I could think of at the time. What would you guys have done in this situation? Does this happen often during Day Game? If I'm getting this text, does it mean I didn't properly communicate my intent during the actual interaction? Or is this just some weird shit test?

Yep. That's exactly what it turned out to be. It looked like she wasn't gonna reply which is why I posted this FR. But she actually got back to me. Continuing on the convo:

Her: Ah, that's so nice bboy but I'm kind of seeing someone right now
Me: That's perfectly fine with me. All Im asking for is a cup of coffee. If it turns out we're not a good match or you like him more, we can leave anytime. Its nbd.
Her: I'm really happy with this person right now so I really just don't think its a good idea!
Me: Perfect. Then you should hang out with me anyway. ITs a win-win for you. If you like him more than me, you'll be even more grounded in your decision to stick it out with him. And if don't...well then I'm guessing you'll be really happy you met me.
Her: Sorry, but no can do.
Me: Ok, np. Was still nice meeting you!
Her: You too!

Good stuff. I would just point out to be slightly careful with the phrasing here though because they way your framing it is that she's the prize; she's choosing between you two. Which is true to some extent of course, but it sets up the wrong precedent if the date was to actually go ahead.
