I did not start the day right. I was laying around all day watching television on Wednesday up until 11:00 PM rolled around. I decided to get up and check out a local bar because I knew staying in bed was not going to get me anywhere.
When I walked in, I noticed two girls around the same age as me sitting and talking to each other. Both were medium level energy while I was not as energetic (both girls were 21 and I'm 24). The bar was not too packed, so I sat two seats down from both of the girls. I didn't look at them too much and made sure my posture was good and checked my phone for a little as I ordered a drink. I warmed up by conversing with the bartender before I talked to the girls.
After talking to the bartender, I looked at the two girls and confidently said "Hey, my buddy cancelled on me but are you girls down for pool?" both looked excited and agreed to play. (so far so good)
I introduced myself and they gave me their names. Nicole said she had to use the bathroom while I was left talking to Danielle. I asked where she and the other girl went to school. Danielle told me she goes to Oshkosh and her friend goes to Madison while randomly saying she has a boyfriend (was not expecting her to randomly say this) I said jokingly "Oh, I have a boyfriend too" she said really? I laughed saying "No and not seriously looking" but I could tell my delivery of what I said was not done that great. Regardless, I kept the conversation going and tried to flirt with Danielle.
We played about three games of pool. During the three games, Danielle and I flirted a little but made some faux pas on my part. (Pretty sure it's a combination of not being social throughout the day and needing more experience)
The good vs. bad flirting moments almost evened out:
Good moment
Danielle: "Oh darn it!" (after missing the cue ball)
Me: "Nah, you're trying again" (while gently pulling her back to hit the ball. She was ok with me doing this)
Bad moment
Me: "You're definitely going to do the 100 game challenge we talked about" (after there was about three minutes of silence and she was not doing good)
Danielle: (looks at me and shrugs her shoulders slightly)
After the games, we went back to the bar and took some shots. I had some very good teasing moments, but it felt like she was more interested in talking to her friend than me. In my head I'm thinking "Ah, I should have gotten her number after one game and left on a higher note instead of waiting".
Internally, I felt like I overstayed my welcome and she lost any potential interest, but I persisted to try and leave on a high note and said "we should totally play another game some time! what's your number?"(I could tell she was resistant because she didn't excitedly do it. Instead she looked to her friend and gave her a look as if to say "why not")
I got her number and left positively.
Overall, this was a good experience because I'm pretty sure I know where things went awry. I'm open to any questions or critique about the situation!
