The gym article seems to be more on "slow gaming," but how do you do it fast and direct? I was able to do it in my most recent FR with a worker, but I'm not sure how to do it with a gym member.
For example, I ran into this situation today, and it's the reason why I'm posting this.
I had been swimming for about an hour and a half and then sat in the hot spa. (I'm swimming more now because I'm planning on doing a triathlon later this year, and I suck at swimming.) After sitting there for a while, a very attractive woman came in the pool area -- just my type. She walked past the spa, and I gave her a smile as we locked eyes. Then she got into a lane and began to swim.
Key difficulties here:
This doesn't have to be applied to just the gym, but other similarly tricky situations as well.
Is there a socially savvy way to handle this? Or, do I pretty much just have to go over there; stop her from working out; compliment her and chat briefly (or ask how to swim or if she's on some swim team?); and then ask her out....?
Surprisingly, these situations don't happen too often, but it happens enough where I'd like to know if there's anything special that works. I think that I'll be happier in life when I can ask a woman out no matter what situation. I can ask out women fine at grocery stores, the park, bars, on the street, etc., but these occasional situations arise that have me stumped. I guess I just need to not worry about anything and blaze through.
You guys have experience with asking out women in tricky situations?
Thanks

Key difficulties here:
- Time. I had just finished my workout, so I was ready to leave the gym and didn't want to wait for her to finish her workout (which could be 1-2 more hours). I don't want to be at the gym for 4 hours.
- People. Lifeguards and people swimming in lanes and in the open section of the pool. It'd be obvious that I'm walking over there to chat with her, especially since they just saw me finish my workout. As for the people in the lanes, I'm not really bothered, as they would be too busy. I'm mainly concerned with the lifeguards and the people floating around in the open section.
- Busy. She had just started her workout. Would it be rude for me to interject?
- Conflict. If somehow she got annoyed, I could potentially be banned from the gym. However, this is very unlikely to occur with just one instance.
- Chance Encounter. As so often happens, I may never see the person again (but will continue to see the lifeguards and regulars). I need to approach now. I don't want to slow-game it and ruin my chances. I don't want to just go over and pre-open and say "hi" and just wait until the next time I see her because I may not see her a next time.
