The nazi program for eugenics(regulating humans to encourage desirable genes) is unfortunate not just because of the innocent lives it took,but beacuse it smeared mud on a very worthwhile human endevour.
I think eugenics was a good idea poorly executed
Is it not a goog idea to encourage desirable human genetic traits
Is it not our responsibility as humans to discourage undesirable human traits.
Both the American (yes...American ) and German eugenics programs had one fatal flaw
Forced sterilization and murder were perpetrated in the name of eugenics,that was very wrong for two reasons
First and obviously is the ethical reason
Secondly and the worst part and it was humans who were choosing which humans should live.
This was a very unscientific process (and ineffective and unethical)
Do u know which eugenics program I would want us to emulate?
The eugenics program that had been here for millions of years.
MOTHER NATURES EUGENICS PROGRAM
Mother nature lets the world decide who is fit to procreate(and spread their genes)and who is not.
A short giraffe won't be killed or sterilized by other giraffes,if being short is an undesirable trait,the world will kill the giraffe .
In a place where food is only to be found in tall trees,the short giraffes will die of starvation ,and only the tall giraffes will survive.
Which comes first?the survival or the good traits?
The survival must come first for us to determine that some particular trait is good ,
The human eugenics problem put the traits first,and herein lies their greatest flaw,
Making a list of "good"traits.ie.skin color..health..inteligence
Was working backwards
Arbitrarily deciding that Jews are inferior and they should be killed,is not scientific,even if we put aside morality.it is not efficient,and it goes against the tenets of eugenics,which is creating a genetically superior human
Even selecting for a particular trait(say,intelligence)..then saying everyone with an iq below 40 should be sterilized or killed,that Is still not the way to go.,not just beacuse of the morality or ethics,but because it is poor science
You don't preselect the traits ,the world does that
To make my point clearer let us go back to our giraffe examples ,
Tall giraffes are not in the habit of seeking out short giraffes to sterilize and kill them,
This would be wrong beacuse being genetically fit is not equal to being tall.
being fit does not mean possessing certain traits,being fit simply means an organisms ability to survive in a particular enviroment
Being fit might be very counterintuitive
For example as we mentioned in an enviroment where food is in tall trees,being tall is being fit,however in an enviroment where they are poachers in helicopters (or axes flying around)being short is being fit.
So to determine what individual is most genetically fit,you do not get a list of traits and test for them.what you should do is let the organism free and see how it fares in the real world.
The ones that fare well enough to reach adulthood and reproduce have earned the right to live.
Allow me one more example
In a democratic enviroment being smart crative and open minded is a good trait,however in a dictatorial one party muslim state being creative and smart might get you kidnapped and tortured by the secret police,so my point is assuming we want genetically superior descendants humans regardless of tribe,race,health,genetic mutations ,intelligence should be given equal opportunity to live free and reproduce,

NEVER HELP DESTITUTE PEOPLE
A destitute child is usually poor beacuse of the situation of the parents,but when a man is poor it usually reflects his abilities (or lack of).
I prefer the word destitute,I use it here to mean an inability to be self sufficient enough to survive.
Destitute here is used to mean lack of resources not money ...in other words a hunter in the amazon who owns not a cent,but is self sufficient is NOT destitute .hold that thought..back to our giraffes
It is true that mobs of tall giraffes do not go out and kill short ones,but it is also true that tall giraffes do not go out of their way to divide scant resources in such a way as to ensure short giraffes get food.
If they did so many short giraffes would not dies,and giraffes would be less genetically fit as a result.
The criminally insane,the chronically unemployed ,the mentally disabled,some physically disabled,some low intelligence individuals these are not people who should be seeked out and sterilized and killed,no...god forbid
But the truth is without human help many of thes pe individual
Food stamps ,charity.(charity directed at men not kids)is a waste of resources that goes towards perpetuating life that has proven itself unfit to survive.
What is the point ?why Bend over backwards to help people who will reduce the genetic vigor of the species?
Only children should be given charity,and this charity should be given with the understanding that once they are adults they will be expected to fend for themselves .
On the flip side if someone has some disability and they can take care of themselves ,no one should intefer,they have proven themselves worthy of life.
I don't think anyone should ever go around and sterilize and kill people,
But no one should go around wasting resources on rehab centers,homeless shelters and charity on
any adult who has proven themselves unable to survive
Wether beacuse thay are a drug addict,lazy,or stupid is irelevant...if someone has proven they are unable to survive...I say..let them die
