Should you insult someone who tries to tease you?

I get the whole zinger part when someone teases you. Now I am all about maintaining power in a social group and in a social circle I view every guy who makes a joke about me as trying to dominate me and I would lose power if I don’t humiliate him.

I have seen the articles on making a zinger of a comeback. However its not always easy to have a well placed joke in your back pocket.

So could you just straight up insult the guys masculinity then?

Ex :- (as seen in the show suits)

Louis : - is this new cologne or jealousy I am smelling?

Harvey : - Surprised you don’t recognise your wife’s perfume

2)
Louis : - You are dressed like a pimp

Harvey : - I am sorry, I was with your wife all night and these were the only clothes I had.


Are these seen as effectively humiliating the guy or is it seen as reactive?

I think it depends more about the position of where your comeback comes from. If you watch Suits, Harvey's comeback is more about self-amusement than 'let me put him in his place and react'
