Yes, I mean literally.

There are many frightening studies about it. “Sitting disease” has a whole laundry list of negative effects on the body and can shave years off your life; it can lead to certain forms of cancer, diabetes, and heart disease. The links below list these (and other) negative effects, while also providing ways to combat them.

Also, this disease applies to everyone - someone who works out everyday is just as badly affected as someone who doesn't exercise if they both sit for the same amount of time.

Here is one study on the matter:

Here are some articles:

And there are many more studies and articles out there if you search online.

Personally, I stand as much as possible while working, I stand when I eat, and I take regular breaks throughout the day to stand if I'm sitting. I'm also aiming to take a walk every day.

I hope this helps!

Lowes,

The key thing to remember in life is balance. Too much of anything isn't good. When I was young I was told that milk builds strong bones and teeth. Then in my teenage years I was told to stop drinking milk because it damages the bones .

The point of my story? You can't always listen to one sided advice. Too much:

1) Standing/ Walking / Sitting /Weight Lifting

2) Junk Food / Dietary Meals

3) Rest / Work

4) Xyz / ABC

Too much of anything ain't good. Every now and again you'll see studies that come out contradicting past studies . Keep them in mind ( if you want) but use your common sense and balance always.

ill sit down some of the day but not more than a few hours; other than some creative writin ido mos work on a standin desk; an alternate between that and breaks of lying down an readin and stretching. And going out elsewhere for work when needed.

i agree that a balance is probably best
