So I just caught on the articles about being an asshole and being selfish and stopped to reflect a little. At my school several people usually request my aid in studying since I have a pretty good reputation on being smart. On the days I help them we are usually at break (30 minutes). Now is this a good or bad thing when girls ask me for help? Should I be an asshole and dismiss them and share the stories on how I learned to study by myself, inspiring them; or should I just help, requesting lots of compliance during the session?

The thing about being an asshole is that you're being endearing at the same time, not just being a dick. If it's not a terrible imposition on you're valuable time, you can absolutely help. You should recommend a time when you are free from your many other responsibilities (important) and in all situations create situations for compliance. Make her pass you things, forget your textbook and share, let her buy you a coffee as payment (you can always pay next time). She's already with you outside of class, so all you have to do is frame it so that you two are in some fashion a separate entity from the rest of the group (still be sociable with others. You'll communicate social value as well as avoid giving her your full attention until you are alone).
