I am putting this in beginners because it is a beginner question that I know I have read up on but can't find the answer now. Yesterday I was at a large hospital with coworkers and customers in the main lobby. This is a great place to approach women if you don't have to worry about coworkers and customers but not for me yesterday. Anyway, this very feminine young lady come into the lobby. She stops about ten feet straight in front of me. My coworker is between us looking at me. Her and I have a direct line of sight to each other. It takes a couple of minutes but she finally notices me. We make eye contact and hold for a few seconds. She breaks eye contact by directly looking down. I read this a submissive and I am thinking this sucks because of my coworker being there that I can't approach. We are waiting on a customer to show up any second so there is no way I can approach and appear professional.

Ok so my question is, if a woman does the submissive eye contact break by looking down does this indicate interest?

Yes. In fact, one could argue that making any eye contact at all is a sign of interest. But eye contact+looking down and away is pretty universally accepted as an approach invitation.
