I am at a Target to shop for some skincare at around 8 pm when I see a cute black (African) skinny girl roughly my age (20) working, stocking some shelves, so I figure I should approach her. I'm wearing my gray new balance jacket, a gray button down (fitted), a little too tight for my quads red skinny long pants and some brown boots with my high fade hair pulled up.
Me: Hey there, do you know where the lotion is?
Her: (Without a look) yeah, over there (she points)
Me: I was just over there and couldn't find it for the life of me
Her: Aisle F15, just check it out
Me: Oh... well actually, you're really pretty, what was your name?
Her: K, thanks, did you just want to meet me or did you need help getting the lotion?
Me: Both really
Her: Okay, let's go
She walks me over there and we banter on what brand of lotion I'm looking for and what the purpose of it is. We get there
Her: Well the Suave is there, if you're into that one (she had something against Suave)
Me: Which one would you recommend
Her: These, the Lubriderm or (whatever brand)
Me: Cool thanks, so are you in school now or out
Her: I would love to be in school now but I'm working alot, are you in college
Me: (fumbling a bit to answer) uh, yeah I'm at a small col.. college down the road, in Southfield, just a little tech school doing what I love all the time
Her: yeah, good (she starts backing away, I wait at first then take a few steps out the aisle with her to not let her go)
Me: Well what are you doing this weekend?
Her: (looks away thinking on it) I'm not really sure, I don't have anything planned
Me: How about we make plans together? We can grab some coffee in the afternoon
Her: I'm not sure on that, how about you give me your number and I'll think about it (no girl has ever replied to me after that line)
Me: Well you don't have your phone on you, let me just take down your's (I pull out my phone while saying this and she tells me her number)
Me: I'll text you later so you have my number
Her: Okay, bye
Me: (I wave) see you later (or something else half baked and awkward)
I get home and text her a little after I get settled in a (9:17 pm.)
Too much text to copy so just a photo there, but this texting exchange is the culmination of what I've learned with women so far and there's still some I've missed.
-She first says we can hangout on her day off but doesn't say what day that is, so I have to ask and say I don't know if I'll be free, in the past I would've been like YEAH Great let's do that, and never heard from her again
-she says she's free Thursday which is 6 days from that day, everytime that happens, the girl forgets me and doesn't want to see me anymore so I know from experience it's now or never, get an earlier date so I tell her I don't want us to forget each other, give me an earlier date and suggest how
- She gives me a day sooner and asks "Where do you stay" aka "I want you to fuck me good, I'll come to where you live" and I blow it by saying we should meet half way (Stupid, Stupid, Stupid)
The conversation ends there, and the next night I suggest a time and place that is good for me and the place is near where I live. She... Just texted me back
K: Hi Josh, sorry i am going out tonight, i don't think ill be able to wake up that early, i think monday would be best for me
Me: Okay, we'll do Monday morning then
I thought she wasn't gonna lol, but did as I was writing this up! So that's that for now, I persisted to take her number in person when she tried to not give me hers, persisted to know when her day off was, persisted to see her sooner than her day off, and now have to wait until this Monday to see how things play out.
I would say I did a good job with the persisting with her as that seems to have boosted attraction and prevent it from expiring. I did a good job approaching instead of letting her pass. I did a good job making small talk and going for a date soon into the interaction instead of holding her too long while she's working.
I did a poor job recognizing her "I'll come thru" text, a poor job not suggesting seeing her after her shift that night and that's all I've got for the cons
I've got to keep on approaching, persisting when in doubt to see the girl ASAP, and interpret the subtle "Come thru" messages that she wants intimacy.
