Hey guys,
So I know none of you have ever seen this show on TV (yeah, right, hahaha) but anyway, it was on the other night and to be honest it sort of fascinated me how the guys were acting.
Simple question, if you'e ever seen it: What do you make of the guys on shows like that?
Suave and Sexy? Or Desperate or Needy?
I'm really having a hard time deciding. It seems like they act needy as hell on one hand, but the girl acts like her panties are ready to fly off at every line or move they make.
The way they act seems very forced, unnatural, even contrived. Each trying to be the alpha male but feels very transparent, yet not to the girl on the show.
I ask because it's something I've had conversations with a few friends lately, when you'd point out some things I would say or do at times, so I begun to ask them about it.
As you may know, I'm from Europe, but live in the US. I still find the culture "different" here, even though I'm from a "western" culture. Sometimes I find myself in a spin trying to understand the culture. I do see guys out who are just not my style whatsoever, but I can't argue, they get results. They tend to be very forward, argressive, trying to appear as dominant alpha male. It comes off very phoney to us Europeans. It's not quite my style really, if I'm honest. Yet, some women DO lap it up. Am I imagining?
What do you guys think? I'm using this show as an example, there's plenty tv characters I could use... but I mean... is this a good representation of the American male?
I use Colin Farrell as my avatar because obviously, being Irish... he's more the type of guy I "get". Look at the clip below... I can be quite like this, but I need to "reign it in" on American women. The humor and attitude he's exuding behind the words isn't really understood well here... us Irish talk in tongues a little, while Americans will hear every word more literally which creates a disconnect in what's being said and what's really being communicated.

I'm trying to find some role models I can actually study.... and I'm trying to find whaf constitutes the typical American guy.
