Chase talks about some facial expressions in some of his articles, but here's one I tried out today with a lot of success. It's very simple!
It's called The Eyebrow Flash. I got this technique from a book called "The Definitive Book Of Body Language" by Allan and Barbara Pease.
Dlegend asked this question a few weeks ago: "When should you be raising your eyebrows?"
Here's an excerpt from the book: The Eyebrow Flash is a long distance "hello" greeting signal that has been used everywhere since ancient times. The Eyebrow Flash is universal and is also used by monkeys and apes as a social greeting signal, confirming that it's an inborn gesture. The eyebrows raise rapidly for a split second then drop again and its purpose is to draw attention to the face so that clear signals can be exchanged. This is an unconscious signal that acknowledges the other person's presence. It translates to "I acknowledge you and am not threatening."
Alright, cool stuff. I was at the mall today trying this out on everyone I made eye contact with. People instantly were friendly with me, I mostly got huge smiles and some people (who I didn't know) were saying, "hi!" to me. It causes you come across as non-threatening yes, but I'm also thinking that when you raise your eyebrows at someone real quick, it might make them think they know you from somewhere.
Looking forward to hearing what you guys think. If Chase already covered this, let me know!
