I love this speech. Whenever I question if it is worth it to go up to a girl, I think of this video. Also a great way of changing your thinking. Give it a watch and let me know what you think!

I've heard this commencement speech many times and love it even more every time. The beauty and the sadness of it, however, is practicing it. Nevermind, it's only beauty - that free will to do whatever we like with knowledge, that's fucking beautiful. It's sad that the speaker, David Foster Wallace, did not persevere to the end with this wisdom and instead ended his own life. His death, then, reminds us that even one with such a firm grasp on a profound wisdom can fail to diligently practice it.

But that just means it's hard, not impossible. We're only fucked if we fuck ourselves.

Thanks for posting, V!

May we all become powerful beyond measure and persevere every moment of our lives,

Beautiful! Gonna try to get it as an mp3 file for my phone so I can listen to it when I'm running through the routines of life.

I wish more people understood the power of perception and choice. The world would be a better place.

Thank you so much for posting this! I have watched it a few times now and each time it makes more and more sense. I even printed out a picture of three fish and stuck it on my door to remind me to think of how I perceive the world every time I go out, to move off that 'default setting'.

Where he says in the speech about considering that maybe that woman who just screamed at her kid in the supermarket has been up 3 nights in a row comforting her husband who is dying of bone cancer. It inspires me to look deeper at everyone around me.

This is actually very useful in pick up. If you think this about everyone around you it makes them all suddenly more interesting and you cannot wait to go find out the real truth behind why they are there today and what drives them to do what they do. When you approach women with this kind of curiosity and enthusiasm it's great for building a quick connection.

I actually recounted the tale of the three fish to a girl the other day after I heard it on here and it lead to a deep conversation about how we perceive our existence and what we hope to get out of this life we are given. All game and routines went out the window and we just had a deep, emotional connection as the conversation flowed. Needless to say it was effective!

I think this is the crux of what girlschase teaches, forget the routines, watch this video and go out and engage deeply with girls.
