Tinder Elo Score

Hi everyone,

Today I just learned that Tinder uses an algorithm which determines your attractiveness level and shows you to the people in the same range of attractiveness. For example if someone with a higher Tinder Elo score likes you, you get a boost on your Elo and if the people you like doesn't like you back your Elo score reduces.

I've always been swiping right without looking at the profiles then unmatch those who were not pretty. Seems like this damages your Elo score. So I might have been shooting myself in the foot there.

Thought I'd share this so people don't make the same mistakes

If this is actually the case, it seems like resetting your Tinder account may be able to help you out so that you start from a clean slate again.

I love the fact that Tinder might be using ELO. As an actively competitive gamer myself, it makes me smirk.

Yeah, I looked that up as well. But others claim that you have to change your IP as well for it to work, still others say that fake facebook profiles (which you have to create if you want to reset your Tinder) makes your ELO really low. Anyhow seems like a hassle to me

Would love to hear it, if anyone tried it though!

Its a bit of a black box what goes on behind the scenes, but I can tell you that I use a fake Facebook profile for my Tinder and haven't noticed any problems

You don't have to use a different IP or even a different facebook. Just delete your account and then a few hours later create a new one. Though I haven't been on Tinder for nearly a year this is what I did during the two years that I worked on Tinder game and it never failed me.

I would leave it up for about a month before resetting. The reasoning is because newer profiles get shoved to the top of people's stacks and your profile gets shown to more people overall without having to do any boosts.

In fact, the one time I tinkered with boosts I noticed that I got about the same number of matches that I would get on the first day of a new profile.

Also in regards to your attractiveness rating: whenever you swipe left your score rises as well because it assumes pickier people are more attractive. The downside to this was that whenever I tried this I was still using cellphone pictures and got shown to people way out of my Tindering league and didn't have a good month that month
