For those that might not know, I do enjoy playing and studying chess. I came across this video series the other day, and I can't help but just admire GM Robin van Kampen's [right in video] fundamentals. (GM Jan Gustafsson [left in video] is also great with public speaking and dry wit.)
I decided to post this because the fundamentals he has are so simple to develop from watching:
- A bit of toned muscle
- A nice deep, unique voice
- Tight fitting shirt
- Good eye contact, level head, and decent enough posture
- Interesting bracelet on right hand, nice watch on left hand
- Dedication to a craft and good at it (chess)
- Hair is good (not a big fan of his hairstyle, but better than the average guy since it's simple, clean, and a touch more interesting)
Of course, he has room for improvement. I think he still has too much of a young-fratty look and would look better with a bit of stubble. He could also get a bit slower with movements and a bit better with public speaking, but this will improve naturally with maturity and experience.
Just wanted to share this example from an unusual place (usually people pull from celebrities, not chess players). Examples are all around if you just look.
