Walking cool and confident - but people walk into you?

Hello all,

When I used to walk (chest out/confident), I noticed people would generally swerve out of the way.

But recently, I've noticed that people tend to either walk right into me or give me weird stares (like I don't belong). So I walk slow, try to move with purpose, and people don't swerve out of the way, but actually brush or flat out shoulder-to-shoulder swerve. I also find that when the contact happens, I reflexively tend to move out of the way.

If anyone else went through this, how did you manage to snap out of it?

I've noticed that too, it is a weird phenomenon, sometimes quite annoying. I don't really know why, I'm kind of thinking that when you are walking that way you are expressing "look, I am confident" - and some people are just in opposition to it, they are like "no, you are not!".

Most of the time I stand my ground, I don't step away to the sides, I just slow down or stop, let them pass.

Who knows, maybe some people are just rude, perhaps they are just so preoccupied with their thoughts that they don't even think about walking into other people. They simply just don't care...

Possible. Some people are busy so they make get frustrated and end up being rude.

There are also those people who purposely seem to get a kick out of making fun of people who attempt to walk more confident. Almost like the way you prescribe, but flat out make fun of it behind the walker's back.

It seems to some, self-development is a no-zone. Misery loves company, once again.

This just makes me laugh. Putting on a walk is dead obvious. If you have other things to offer, you shouldn't feel the need to put on a walk.

That's a good idea though! Next time I see someone putting on a walk, I'll walk into them!
