Ways to be vague about what you do for a living?

When asked what do you do, I heard one way to answer this is to start with a "well at the moment I'm doing..." in order to keep her intrigued. I've also heard that you can try and act as if you're a rich guy who doesn't want to admit he rich! and if asked about what you do, you could just say "let's just get to know each other first". In other words, I'm rich, but I don't want to admit it yet, because I don't trust you yet.

These thoughts come after I got talking to a girl recently. She was talking about an interview she was after having. I ended up mentioning something that happened to me during an interview, and she was quite to ask "an interview for what?". I arrogantly replied "grocery boy". Anyway I realised a bit later into our conversation, that she'd already presumed I was rich. Nothing happened with her in the end, but the fact that she presumed I was rich was fascinating.

I later realised that this was down to two things; my confidence, and the way I dressed. Isn't that interesting.

I'm surprised no one has anything to say here! The idea fascinates me. Something you say or do that gives the impression you're rich, and the moment you realise she realises it, your confidence shoots up. When it happened to me, I felt like saying "thank you for presuming I'm rich".

The endless amounts of tricks you could do for pretending you're rich must be almost endless, though I may only know a few.

"Im just a traveler. Searching for something more. I'll be here for just a few days." then smile slily. If she asks if you have a job be vague too, tell her "I dont know if you're ready for that yet" .

I mean if you're gonna lie might aswell do something that builds a sense of urgency + intrigue + sexual innuendo and sets you up as a spontaneous guy.

Way better than having her think you're rich.

This was and still is a topic that pops out to me. This bs of being "mysterious" we see being thrown around in seduction circles never appealed to me, I always felt awkward or like a weirdo doing it, and I don't think I've ever met a girl who didn't say a lot about her life that got me "intrigued," because I knew she was only playing games and ignore that job aspect for that moment.

I also don't know how to downplay the "looking like you're rich" thing. I'm certainly not rich, but I'm well-traveled, my tastes, mannerisms and other stuff that you would expect from rich people so I see how a lot of people would see me in that light. But I dress pretty plain most of the time to avoid adding to the image with the exception of a nice pair of shoes or watch, and I make sure to mention money-related things during conversation, like "oh, if we only were millionaires!" or some other situation where I needed some money to do XYZ.

Today I say that I have some hobbies that I take very seriously and then say I work in [big and vague industry]. I try to give the vibe that I'm doing OK, travel a lot and have a lot of artistic interests that increase my rebelliousness e.g. a doctor who dresses like a bad boy and is an actor at the local theater. Anything that doesn't let her put you in a tidy box of "doctor" or "actor."

just because it doesnt suit your style does not make it bs. chase has written many many times on being mysterious and building intrigue and letting women peel off your layers slowly rather telling her. its called investment.and just because as a man you arent intrigued by women who act mysterious doesnt mean the reverse is also true, thats bad logic.

I wasn't directing my previous post to what you had said before. But there is such thing as over-gaming. It's not the line that's important, but rather not replying right away, and making her work a little bit. You shouldn't need to wink after every phrase to make her work, guess or be intrigued.

Her - What do you do for a living?
You - Great question. I'm curious to know what you'd think. What's your guess?
Her - (Guess)
You - (Tease)

It's not what you say that will make her think you are a double O agent. She will notice your devil-may-care attitude if you just don't pay too much attention to it. By the way, they never guess it right, which is what I'm trying to bring attention to.

Dude, different strokes for different folks what is incongruent or try hard for you will not be for someone else.

What you say does matter if you are using a tool that makes your seduction easier. And who says you dont say it non chalantly?

The statement you said above does not give her any sense of urgency neither is it sexual. When you tell a girl youre only here for a few days it immidiately disqualifies you as a boyfriend. Now its an easy decision for her, to sleep with him or not.

If the OP wants to lie about what he does might aswell pack the biggest punch and make the seduction easier no?

That was twenty years ago. Nowadays, his actions would easily scream PUA to anyone. He's completely over doing it there at 0:37, with the way he doesn't even look at her. A regular man could not assume he would have such a strong influence over her, unless he were a movie star.
