I used to be a mega stoner. I would smoke about 2 blunts of good weed a day. I kept this up for about 3-4 years and decided to do a total life makeover in which I realized weed was an escape and excuse to not tackle my problems in life. It was also a good excuse to not get off my ass and do anything other than to go to the bathroom, eat waffle house, and pick up the TV remote/smoke more weed.

Anyway these days I'm completely sober except that I occasionally will smoke weed once in a blue moon (3 times a year).

Last night was one of those nights and it helped me discover a key fact of where I had been fucking up in my thought process. I realized I still have negative thoughts cycles and live predominantly in the past (in relation to my time orientation) which I feel holds me back a bit. I wrote this down on a piece of paper (so I wouldn't forget!) and am going to start working on becoming extraordinarily positive and optimistic.

I don't recommend smoking pot on a regular basis but I seem to have a epiphany/breakthrough of some sort every time I smoke it as long as I don't make it a habit.

My question to you my fellow forum goers is
Do you smoke weed and how does it affect your personal growth? Everyones different so I'm sure this will get mixed answers but I'm curious to how many of yall are weed smokers.

Specifically I wonder if Chase smokes weed. I highly doubt he does, because he's so fucking hard working and not lazy (maybe he takes Adderall idk), but curious to what your thoughts on weed are Chase if you read this.

I heard that taking any kind of drug (nicotine, cannabis, crack cocaine, etc) as either a child or a teenager totally messes with you, as it changes your natural reward circuitry due the plasticity of the brain at that time. After 21, your brain is more or less set in its shape, so taking drugs for the first time then shouldn't do too much harm.

In other words, if you first took drugs when you're under 21, stop. Because it would have likely caused a brain change and made you addicted. If you first had it after 21, stop if you can, but if you think you can handle it (and it's not illegal), then fair enough.

I don't smoke nor drink. I don't want to appear holier-than-thou, I just never had the taste for it.

The effects of cannabis usage must first be understood before making any sort of judgment call. The ingredients aren't thought to be addictive in the human body, although, as with any activity, you can become addicted through positively reinforcing the action. This is especially active from the sense of euphoria that cannabis brings.

Once you get to the basics of it, it isn't much more than an activity from which you find pleasure. Because of this, it can take up quite a bit of your time, which you may believe should be used for other things. In the end it comes down to controlling your emotions and understanding yourself and how you react to things. If the euphoric substances in cannabis are too much for you to resist, and it is taking up your time, then a certain measure of self control must be learned.

It seems, from my humble and short-sighted observation, that giving into this bodily pleasure leads towards other indulgences, such as eating out and being lazy. You need to 'rewire' the circuits, as they say, to bring pleasure from activities which your logical centers of the brain believes to be the right ones, rather than getting pleasure out of smoking eating and watching TV.

Totally agree with both of your statements. Especially Ryan, that's funny, I guess I'm doomed now! My brain is probably totally rewired probably from deliberate use in my teenage years. Honestly I admire that you never fell into the peer pressure Ryan, though idk what your situation was. Growing up close to an urban black community where drugs are common place and looked upon as "cool/fun" it was pretty much a given if you weren't a lamo (looking back what a stupid reason). Cannabis does rewire your brain to become more present hedonistic time oriented and totally fucks your ability to delay gratification (for me at least).

I honestly don't enjoy smoking anymore. Like I said I'm over a year sober and only partake a couple times a year and usually wonder why the hell I thought it would be a good idea to do it again anymore in the first place. What I was getting at is that when I smoke these days, as rare as it is, my thought processes slow down and get amplified which bring thought patterns to my attention that need fixing. More or less a humbling experience these days for me.

Mostly just negative thought cycles that I overlook when I'm sober and realize what they are when I get high.

Not something I would even think about doing on a remotely regular basis anymore (saps motivation, testosterone, etc...). But inner game for seduction and life is important. If I can undercover various cycles of thought that need attention/correction that I overlook sober I think partake once every 3-4 months might be a good thing to do.

Perhaps it's just me but I was curious if anyone else had a similar experience to this.

Weed definitely seems to have a negative effect on people. Some of my friends smoke and it inhibits their ability to make decisions in the moment. I haven't fallen into the peer pressure yet but the temptation is strong. I have drank a couple times, once where I blacked out and it didn't seem to have a negative effect. I only have drank twice though, and it's for special occasions only.

To sort of counter your story, most of my friends that smoke are white/Asian and I'm African American and have yet to touch weed.

Jake.

Weed can be good and it can be bad.

Truly I am a occasional smoker and one hit sends me sky high. So high that I cannot control myself when it comes to eating, I get super munchies and among other things.

However it does allow you to think in a different manner. The next time I smoke, I believe I can control it, make a concentrated effort to think, behave and in the end have a enjoyable and positive time.

Of course don't be stoned all the time, everything in moderation.
