What do these random texts mean?

I have noticed a common pattern with certain girls and I was wondering what this means. Once, in a while I will get random text from girl that will be so random. E.g. I got this text today from a girl I slept with 3 months ago:

Her: So apparently (I don't remember this) but on Saturday Night a bunch of guys were telling me "ohhh where's Rdawg" lmfaooo.... (7:30AM)

This text was so random. I haven't talked to this girl in over a month and this isn't the first time she sent a text like this to me. She said something similar about a month and a half ago. I have no idea what she wants but I am thinking she is just looking for attention from someone. I responded back and here's how the conversation went.

Me: really? lol (11:30AM)
Her: Ya (11:32AM)
Her: It was so random (11:32AM)
Me: Ya, I wasn't even out Saturday night (11:34AM)
Her: Ya I know! I would of seen you if you were lmaoo (11:34AM)
Me: Ya, you probably would of (11:35AM)

That was it. Weird but I get the feeling she was just looking to see if I was still interested? Anyways, I was wondering what your guys thoughts were and how would you respond to a text like this. This isn't the first time a girl has a done this to me, I have had other girls text me similar things (girls I haven't even slept with). I was just wondering the reason behind something like this.

It sounds like this girl is from your social circle (or at least knows guys in your social circle). She was probably checking in to see what your reaction to her check was and if you were still going to be "chill" about everything. After not contacting her for a month, she might have been worried how you viewed her.

It sounds like you handled it almost exactly the way I would have handled it, so your instinct was good there. =)

Yes, you are right about this girl knowing guys in my social circle but she isn't necessarily a "part" of mine. Secondly, that was my initial thought, that she was looking for some sort of reaction from me. Glad to know that I handled it well
